I live outside of Detroit, so finding Canadian coins in change is not uncommon. But this also had a couple dollars in US quarters that just didn't go through. Oh, and the key.
Interesting how there were so many Canadian coins there, but nary a Canadian cent! No longer minted, but still circulating......... are they being pulled out of circulation that fast?
I could not believe it either. The machine is located near the exit of the grocery store, right next to a lottery machine. As I'm walking out, as I always do (and have taught the kids to do as well), I look at the machine and see just a ton of change in the reject bin. Couldn't believe there was that much, and that it was still there.
Interesting on the Canadian cent, you're right. Not one in the lot.
I rarely ever put anything in a Coinstar - do they accept the new US $1 coins? FWIW, I think this was a Madison.
The foreign stuff would generally be rejected, but it looks like some cruddy pennies gummed up the mechanism, so, all the rest was just bypassed. When I was working at the grocery store, we would often have to answer the "Manager service to the Coinstar" call. It's amazing what people put in those machines.
And here I was proud of the silver dime I found today, along with a brand new Bombay Hook quarter and two pieces of plastic play money.

I recently used the coin counter at my bank, for metal detecting coins.
I asked for help, since I saw a small ring fall in the slot,
when they opened the machine, I saw about 10+ coins in the reject slot, that I had just checked, they were higher up in the slot and I didn't see them.

Seeing a pattern here yet?
But hey, more power to y'all who have gotten the goodies. My luck may change someday.

three cents, a dime and a quarter.... nothing beyond face value, but it broke the drought.
Cheers, RickO
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
