    No Way ...

    A vintage 1964 Anti-Johnson campaign button ...

    image

Here is another one. Johnson made this comment when he saw his official White House portrait. His Viet Nam War was much uglier. This sums up my opinion of most reverse Proof coins which I usually find to be unattractive.

The Goldwater supporters picked up on his comment and used it for this button.

Bill, my daddy hated Johnson. We would be in the house and all of a sudden hear him cussing at the tv. It was usually Johnson running his mouth.

    Cool buttons btw.

My Daddy was "a yellow dog Democrat," but he came to dislike Johnson because of his bone headed Viet Nam policy and too many giveaway programs. My daddy's party affiliation came from his mother, my grandmother, a classic southern Democratic lady who admired George Wallace. His attitudes went off in a different direction on racial matters, however.

My father was totally enthralled with Hubert Humphrey. His admiration for "The Hump" took hold from time of Humphrey's racial stands when he was Mayor of Minneapolis in the late 1940s. My father's admiration for Humphrey continued until the Minnesota senator and former VP died. Needless to say my father disagreed with his mother on racial issues, rather pointedly.

He is long gone, but he left a huge legacy that is with us today, and will be with us for the foreseeable future. He changed politics in American forever, and most of it was not for the good. It was both intentional and unintentional on his part.

The best thing he did was get the 1964 Civil Rights Bill passed, except for the quotas. The worst thing he did was to instill the entitlement mentality.

The unintentional part was the Viet Nam War which radicalized a generation of Americans. The seeds from that are now posed to run the country for the foreseeable future.

It will be interesting to see how fast this sells out after the price crash of the Eisenhower sets.

And what mistake would that be ? That it did not sell out as fast as you hoped it would.

Yes the price came down from short sighted people like yourself who fell over themselves in a rush to sell. People who jump in for the quick flip get burned more often than not.

Seems like you are the only looser whining about it.image
