What immediately comes to mind is this new approach of starting a series in mid-stream, like starting a series of circulation grade "S" quarters in the middle of the series, and starting a run of Reverse Proof Pres Dollars in the middle of the series.
I equate these reverse proof dollars like the ASE reverse proofs found in the 2012 and 2012 special ASE sets The mint created a unique coin in the series. Its already September and no mention yet of the reverse proof mint sets either. I wonder if the mint decided to scrap that idea.
I agree with the S National Parks Quarters, that those don't make sense. It would make sense if they did those for one year only.
I'm going to order a couple of these sets to flip. These sets aren't that expensive so it's not like I'll be risking a lot of money.

<< <i>OperationButter - I can not be 100% certain, but I got the impression that it was simply one person (let's call him the "General" and the person that called me) in charge (formally or informally) of a number of "Colonels" each of which capable of getting perhaps 200+ sets each. Hence, a major operation centered around US Mint product. Fortunately or unfortunately, I can not use this kind of quantity myself. I may have been personally interested in a "four figure" position of Truman or Ike at the right price, but not Kennedy. That said, this is obviously an attractive position to a major telemarketer and I am sure this outfit will do just fine with the coins.

<< <i>Seems like the market in these is getting thinner and thinner, remember it's all about demand
One would think that demand for a 17,000 special issue in an inexpensive (i.e. somewhat collectible) Modern series would be good in the long term.
Don't worry - the Mint can find more ways to screw things up than you or I can ever imagine.

It's almost as if they have zero planning capability and decide to jump on every bandwagon that shows any chance of milking collectors just "one more time" instead of a well-planned and well-promoted campaign.

Stupid greed on the Mint's part.
Why did they change the finish on the Mint Sets halfway through the Statehood quarter program?

Kennedy is one I wouldn't mind being stuck with and $120 isn't .01% of the dumbest thing I've ever done. I'm giving a speech in Vegas in a few weeks, if I leave there with only $120 in losses I'll be ecstatic!
Checkout webpage got hung up on the "continue to confirmation" (or whatever it was) step. Red button didn't to anything. Closed browser and restarted, checked out, all golden.
Don't know if it worked or not got kicked out on every screen of checkout even the confirmation. I have to wait to see if I get an e-mail, really don't care as I did not get an Ike set.

3686 orders between mine and my father's in about 2 minutes.
This was even more glitchy for me than was Ike.
At least my father was able to order which he could not with Ike.
Given the far higher mintage I wonder how these will do.
Not too much to gamble on though so why not?
