Highland Park Standing Lib Quarters

-- I was checking out the above link from the folks at HJB yesterday and today -- not surprisingly, a lot of the more affordable stuff from the collection seems to have been snapped up, but some of the trophy coins seem available?

Anyway, nice that (I'm not sure how long the images of the sold coins will remain online) you can still see the collection as a whole. Nicely original-looking pieces that have touches of color here and there and seem to have avoided the dipping jar!

    I love that series!! Just a gorgeous design all the way around.
    The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

    If I collected these, I would have had an uber-expensive shopping spree yesterday when they got uploaded. I missed seeing the 1927-S; it must have insta-sold when it was uploaded.

    Mike Printz's images are excellent. Can't stand strike designations -- otherwise I might have tried to put a set of these together.

    I know what you mean....I feel the same way. But out of all the "full strike" elements........ I feel that it makes the most difference of how the coin looks on the Standing Quarter.

    The Full Head coins look so much better.

    I agree, they definitely were on the ball! Not really able to buy anything like these just now, but a lot of them are relatively affordable, compared to the quality that's self-evident. Meaning, one of them that's a 64, or a 63, and priced as such, but has that look and appeal of a gem that would cost much more. image

    Congrats to the collector(s?) who originally put it together -- I don't know how long it might have taken, but it was a job very well done!

    That is a very pretty set. You would have to do a lot of digging at the auctions and the shows to find a set of coins like that.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Beautiful but I still don't believe there is such a thing as a full head on these. Just my opinion.

    How do you know what to expect a full head to be if you don't think they exist? You want to see hair in the ear hole?

    It is nice to see some SLQ's in old holders that have ben left alone over the years. The toning, the spots and the color add to the character of the coins.

    That looked like it toned while encapsulated in the fatty holder.

    Shame as I missed some of the tougher FH and non FH semi keys which got ripped as they weren't priced realistically for what the series commands.
