JFK Dollars.
Rest assured, there won't be a fiasco with this one. Or will there be ?
The presidential small dollar series just moves along, quietly.

I'm looking forward to completing this set (series) in the album. Just sayin'

They had to work him up at this angle because if he was looking straight on his Conan O'Brien hair would be off the coin.

Wow, out of five designs, ONE vaguely resembled JFK and another one sort of looked like Jack crossed with Bobby.

    Jackie Bug Eyes.

No thanks and quite frankly, I think the US Mint should be embarrassed aver this particular presentation.

In the proof set, the Kennedy Stands out because its the only one looking down. Ugh!

Well, I'll be a contrarian and say I don't mind the portrait, much. The pensive, somewhat-downcast image of him is... well... different.

Not such a bad thing, IMHO.

I'm not saying I love it, but I don't hate it, either.

I wasn't around when he was president, but from the photos and videos I've seen of him, I would not know by looking at any of those sketches that it's JFK, however one sort of looks like his brother Bobby and another like Reagan.

In all fairness, some the America the Beautiful quarters look decent.

This Presidential Dollar series just does not meet expectations. FDR looked bad... so does JFK. The comment about these looking like tokens from a gas station unfortunately is spot on.

Seriously... what happened to the art of creating decent portraits for coins and medals?

Despite his disability, JFK was one of the most energetic, vibrant and gifted presidents of the 20th century. The coin's designer has him looking down (not up) and appearing weary. Not a design I would have selected for such a celebrated president.

Agree. They appear to have taken every identifiable "caricature" feature, and put it on a coin.

The US Mint Designers and sculptors need to put a can of RAID into the operating system they're using to create this crap. Get back to the plaster molds you lazy schleps.

JFK had a back brace because of a broken back and he also had Addison's disease and was receiving injections of vitamins, speed, cortisone and painkillers. The public didn't know much of this at the time.

None of those portraits do JFK justice.

"Different"? It appears to have been modeled after his official White House Portrait...................in a cartoony sort of way.

The White House portrait doesn't depict him as being cross-eyed and despondent.

It was common knowledge that his back was injured during WW2 when a Japanese destroyer rammed his boat, PT-109, and cut it in half. He never fully recovered from the war wound.
