Bill Belichick, Joe Philbin, and Jeff Fisher were going to bid on him but changed their mind because Mathis was not PWCC Certified High End. Must be because he is 33 years old.
Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.
Best of luck to a fellow board member. If he is still interested in playing I hope he hooks on to a team soon.

Tim, I think The Giants are a better option. Stay in the Division and show Chip twice a year what a mistake he made!
(BTW ... I'm sure Evan LOVES reading what us amateurs have to say! hahaha)

I wish the Browns had a spot for him, but OL is their strong spot. Hope he finds a spot, but after the National! Would love to rip some packs with him at the BBCE booth.
Just looked at teams available cap space and Jets/Giants/Broncos are not very likely without some contract restructuring. All are 25th or lower in available cap w/the Broncos at $7.6m with the most currently. Titans w/plenty of cap space and a new franchise QB to protect could be in the mix.
<< <i>Eagles offered him the chance to earn over 6 million next season - I'd be shocked if he gets that from any other team now. >>

He's been playing for 10 years and is 34 ... which is unfortunately old in NFL years. I think the NFL average career length is 6-7 years.
IMO he's still one of the best guards in the game but I'd say in reality he has 3 years left max. I hope he cashes in soon! >>
Pro Football Focus will tell you he is one of the best guards in the game but if that were true and he was available via trade the last two off seasons, why did no team offer up anything?

That is a good point, I guess because they want someone younger. If the sport wasn't so brutal on the players bodies than it'd be a different story.
Rotoworld says he was due $5.5 million in 2015 but wanted more. What's the take home on a salary like that after taxes, agents and other misc expenses ... like 2/5ths?

Trades don't happen all that often in the NFL plus with it being Chip Kelly and the Eagles I think other GM's were counting on the fact Mathis would be cut loose and available to sign on their terms. It would be cool if he participated in the forum while he is waiting on his next NFL stop.
Rumor has it Probstein is looking at him. The vacancy left by Spece has been devastating, and the guy already knows all the years on cards. He's probably already living in the Philly area and won't need relocation benefits. The only issues now appear to be salary requirement and a fancier title than consignment director.

San Dee A Go, Super Chargers, baby! $9.5 million in projected cap room this year, and a lot more 2016-.
From ProFootballFocus.com: Team Needs - Guard: Johnnie Troutman continues to struggle, finishing the year as our lowest-graded right guard. (I have no clue how difficult it would be to move our existing left guard (another below-average guy - Chad Rineheart) to the right side; hopefully doable)
Great weather, great people, a playoff caliber team. Let's make this happen!
Evan may sign with the SF 49ers and just retire...... now that would be funny.

Mathis was ranked 1, 1, and 2 overall compared all interior lineman over the past 3 years. I would do cartwheels if the Jets signed him to shore up the OL. What is Chip Kelly doing? In November he is either going to look like a genius or a moron who is on the hot seat. I predict the later.

Denver could use him and I wish they could make it work. Depends on what they end up doing with Demaryius. If they sign Demaryius to a deal, paying him maybe $14-16 million per, that takes all the cap room. If he ends up playing on the franchise tag this year for $12 million then maybe...
