Coin Dealers in Northern Ohio/Watch out for fake Gold Eagles

Apparently there are several people trying to pass fake 1 oz Eagles as the real thing. They were purchased from:

Alibaba.com

According to the web site they are exact replicas.

The Bruker was not fooled.

Just a heads up

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

To the eye they are passable and the weight and diameter are precisely correct. They are slightly concaved and will almost "spin" if placed face up on the counter. They also "thud" instead of "Ring"

It would be good if they didn't put their watermarks on all of their pictures. I know they want credit for this, but part of the idea is to provide the best image you can to combat this stuff. Interfering with that with your name plastered across every picture does not help.

if you did not mention that alibubba is publically traded company in the us of a and that it is "not in the public interest" to have them continue their listing on an us of a exchange... you can write a follow up.

and may as well bug your rep's as well.

while Sen. Schumer has removed the articles from his senate site, the action he took against alibaba lives on

While Sen. Schumer did not shut down alibaba, he did get them to remove counterfeit guitar strings from the site.

Where is Sen. Schumer when we need him again?

But Liberty Dollar guy faced life in jail?

Maybe he should have knocked off pandas instead. Always good to know that our government is in there, maybe getting a piece of the action?

When I clicked on the link to the site selling these it said price was $250 - $500 so to buy one you would really have to lay out alot of cash for a fake,,,,, image

it's not only the manufacture costs, but the amount of gold plating.

who knows how much plating is really on it, but they say it is thick. I am going to guess and say they probably don't have the amount of gold on them they say. So you are likely not going to remove the plating and recoup costs unless gold skyrockets a hugmongous amount.

Not marked copy... I notice the eyes of Liberty look significantly more pronounced than on a real coin...could be the picture.. Seems to me it fits the very definition of counterfeit...Cheers, RickO
