1861 - 1864, copper. This token was produced for use as a currency token, rather than as a scale weight. Ex: George Fuld

Sonorandesertrat, Based on your image I'm 99.99% sure your Gruber is not Copper but envelope toned Brass.

This may push the rarity in your favor as this token is encountered far more often in copper.

I wondered about that too. It was in an NGC slab when I bought it, and I haven't cracked it out to weigh it.

Probably no need to crack it as Brass will tone in your shades of patina if it's been envelope stored for decades as seen below...

1858 Mulligan Jewelers, Philadelphia, Miller PA-370R / Wright 736, 32mm Diameter, Thick Brass Planchet, Reeded Edge, Rarity-5.

Joseph Merriam's Washington medal, paired with his storecard. Very scarce. From Northeast Numismatics:

Boosibri that is a seriously attractive 44S, only the second rainbow toned one I've seen.

Sorry my image is so bad, but I wanted to follow your lead.

Jeff, I suspect that 44-S is outrageous! Care to trade it for a nice camera and a couple of lights?
