Uh oh - ebay police caught me (update - it was the starting price for a raw coin).

ebay pulled my Cheerios Sac in original packing listing.
In the verbage, I said I don't know how it would grade since the reverse needs to be seen, but the obverse looks at least 67.
Note - no "MS" before 67.
Do you suppose someone complained over something that trivial??

Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

Edit: Ahhh, raw coin vs. graded coin. My coin is graded, probably why it wasn't yanked. So just ignore my ramblings above...

seriously though, why can't you say you think it's a 67? i get ebay has a lot of complaints that some coins didn't grade 67
No way. I would have complained about the Cheerios and the Sac first.

Numeric grades can only be used when the coin is graded by one of the eBay accepted grading companies (PCGS,NGC,ICG,ANACS etc.)
In the old days people have been ripped off for millions of dollars from sellers listing raw coins as MS68's that are XF at best.
Some sellers circumvent the rules by putting coins in homemade holders with their grades prominently displayed on their homemade labels.
So just put your coin in a homemade holder and print a label showing MS67+ and that is OK with eBay. A picture is worth a thousand words (or numbers)
Buyer submits coin and it comes back 66. You stated 67 in auction. I'll bet you lose in a dispute.
Understate your opinion and you'll prob be Betta Off.
You might state that "most submitted directly from og packaging grade as such and such.
Don't leave yourself open to the SIX MONTH freelook. A lot can happen to the modern coin market in that time frame-even if left in the packaging. You could see your old coin on the bourse floor or on eBay under a different seller for 5 1/2 months.
Best of luck.

Because then you can quote some Price Guide and say the coin should be worth $X.
Then when the buyer submits it and finds out it's three grades lower and worth 10%
of what they paid, eBay has a problem transaction it has to deal with. Dealing with
such problems costs eBay money, lots of money. So, it's in their best interest to
protect buyers from themselves, beyond whatever moral obligation you may or may
not think they have in that regard.
EDIT: I am speaking generally and in no way referring to the coin in the OP.
It may well be a 68 for all I know.
<< <i>EBay doesn't have people who police this. The bots saw the numbers in the listing and flagged it. Then someone manually reviewed it would be my guess. Just repost saying GEM like thirty times. >>

Dang - why didn't I think of that - he needs the $$ for nursing home care.....
Soon you won't even be able to post a picture of the grade on a non approved slab company. I wonder how they will handle a 2 x 2 that has a numeric grade written on it

Then the no text in images policy kicks in. In my case selling truck parts to keep down the confusion if I have similar looking items I will write part numbers on them with a sharpie. It prevents me from putting the wrong pic with the wrong listing and sending the wrong item to a buyer. Which seems like a good thing.
So they pulled 10 listings in one day because I had text in the photos. Chosen utterly at random as there were 20 or 30 others that didn't get pulled with visible writing or numbers.

<< <i>Turns out it was the starting price over $2500 for a raw coin. Last nights relist was gone by this morning as well.
Yup, that's do it every time...

PS: cereal-ish-ly, say inherited grandpa's cereal box collection and start at 2499.99 and see how it goes...
Got a link?

So one can't list any raw coin with a starting price or BIN of over $2500? Unreal.

That's been policy for at least a couple years now. They just haven't enforced it until, apparently, now. Several times in the old days I pointed out some whopper listings with start/BIN prices of over $2500 to Judith, who promptly removed them. I never reported authentic sellers with track records and decent coins, just the scammers and over-priced, overgraded junk.

Someone with nothing better to do reported you. I have had sellers that were selling similar coins look for a reason to get mine nuked. Some just pick and chose who to report. It all works out in the end.

<< <i>How about an Australian two-ounce gold bullion in the original plastic capsule or whatever? >>
Rule does not apply to "bullion" rounds, bars or coins, if the items are listed in the bullion category. It's obvious the SAC was listed in the: US coins - $1 - category and subject to the $2,500 limitation.
It would be very unlikely, that I'd ever purchase a raw coin of eBay, for anywhere near $2,500.
