OK, I've changed my mind

MidLifeCrisisMidLifeCrisis Posts: 10,614 ✭✭✭✭✭
A big part of the enjoyment that comes from this hobby is sharing it with others, including sharing our coins...for discussion, advice, encouragement, feeding our egos, or whatever.

So I'll go back to occasionally posting some pics of the coins in my collection.

I used to really enjoy putting together threads with historical information and using my own coins as examples when I could.

This is not meant to come off as some big announcement, but I know if I just started posting pics of my coins, I would get called out for my previous thread. image

I frequently post photos of my own material too. If people view it as showing off, that's unfortunate. This forum would be really tedious to read without photos of peoples' collections. In addition, why not share your best material with the few people who truly appreciate it? There probably aren't more than 1 or 2 people in my whole city that have the experience to recognize and grade top-shelf coins, and I don't know who they are (if they exist). I'm not into sitting in the coin shop picking through junk silver boxes for coins worth 10% over melt, which seems to be the focus of the hobby around here.

im an advocate of personal expression, if you feel like posting it, do so without consideration of one squirt of (fill in the blank) what anyone elses opinion is. whomever doesn't like it can exercise their right to not look at it.

I like this tact much better and look forward to your pics and posts.

Your recent other threads unsettled me but they are forgotten.

Recently there has been a grease filled die statehood quarter, Pogue coins and everything in between.
Not to mention BillJones and GeorgeKellogg history threads.

I live in a very rural area, don't travel much and will probably never see most of what gets shown.
I know you have such coins.

For instance, I really like CBH's and have 8 or 10 or so, but have never seen an AU or MS example in my life.

I like it all and it's why I bother to hang around.

I for one have ALWAYS enjoyed all of the coins you have posted and all of your great input to the hobby itself. I also understand what your talking about, sometime things are tough to swallow.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

A lot of your coins don't suck that much. Many have a redeeming virtue. Several knowledgeable people consider you a valued contributor. image . . . imageimage

Ignore the schmucks. Most of them don't know half of what you do about what you know about. . . . image

    On the other hand you're sane. . . . image A possible disadvantage here. . . . image

Reading descriptions of coins does nothing for me but show me a nice coin and i feel like a teen at the beach.
