CDN Question

Cougar1978Cougar1978 Posts: 9,779 ✭✭✭✭✭
For the last couple of week I have not been able to get them on the phone (their normal hours). I would think phone calls would be a major source of revenue for them, especially renewals (All I am getting is just auto reply about leaving message). I have been unsuccessful in getting in touch via phone.

The are a major source of whoesale market data for the business and for my buy and sell decisions.

Seems highly unlikely. Many businesses these days seem to redirect phone callers
to an answering machine by default. Probably a question of efficiency.

EDIT: Did you actually leave a message for them?

Not to worry. When American companies go out of business they continue to take
in money, they merely stop paying it out or shipping product. Nobody seems to mind.

Unless there is some type of insider trouble, I would doubt it because of how viable their business is; come out with half a page of weekly hype, and only adjust a price downward if it fits into their story line that everything is hunky dory in the coin world with a few minuscule exceptions. They have a large subscriber list, with few employees.

Not surprising a passive organization like CDN which asks dealers to report bids rather than hiring a pricing analyst is lax at anything resembling initiative in returning your phone call.

Thread title creates hysteria over what is essentially a bad customer service situation. . . image

I would strongly suggest that you greatly modify the thread title so as to not spread false rumors about a company based solely on the lack of information.

I doubt they will go out of business. The worst case is to sell their name to others. I bet plenty of companies would like to take over their pricing power image

Yes I believe someone would step in to take it over in a bad case scenario. The publication is a cornerstone of the industry and I don't leave home without it as I rely on it for many sales and purchase decisions.

Ill tell you this , this price guide is getting more and more useless. They need to revamp the whole thing or this could be a real scenario.

For the better coins, everyone is going by auction prices history.

In fact, I don't use it now except to check if something is a better date in the early gold area, and proof sets

Now when I buy over the counter, I buy based on what I think I can get for it on ebay.

I take it, from your surprise, you haven't been to many coin shows lately and talked with dealers or locked at what they have behind/on their cases....?

People that posted remarks that disparaged a certain company on this forum were sued if I remember correctly.
