Do you have a complete set of coins minted the year you were born and/or some other period related to the year of your birth?

Bought a 1960 Proof set when I was about 12. Paid $20 for it and the dealer put it in a plastic holder. I think he may have charged $2 for that. Still have it. Will be buried with I assume. Certainly not worth selling.

I have some birth year coins.... i.e. a WLH, Merc, cent....might have a quarter, will have to check.... Cheers, RickO

I have a set of 1949 Mint State coins. I have never owned a 1949 Mint Set, and I doubt that I ever will. The premium on that set is now so much higher than the cost of Mint State coins that in it that it has now ridiculous. All you need is ONE COIN in the set that has been replaced, and the value of that set drops like a stone.

The last time I shopped for a 1949 Mint Set was at the 2014 Summer FUN show. One dealer wanted Gray Sheet bid for a set, which is over $2,000. One of the half dollars in the set did not have toning that matched the others. In fact it was too bright (white) and was obviously a replacement. That was a deal killer for me and anyone else who knows how these sets look.

Another dealer had a set the was undoubtedly original, but the silver coins were so badly tarnished that their mint luster was gone. The coins could only be called "environmentally damaged." The same dealer had a display of mint sets that had an acceptable 1949 set, but he won't sell it because he was doing a research project. Life too short to get upset about stuff like that. I'll keep my 1949 PDS Uncirculated set and forget about the Mint Set.

If I was just a year younger the 1950 Proof set would make me very happy, but alas I'm not.

100 years prior to my birth, from the mint closest to my home town. Not quite finished yet, but here's the work in progress:

1878-CC Mint Set, Gold and Silver

I should be able to find a nice 25c, but the half is a real bear in AU/low-MS.

Nope, nothing special about 1986. I do have a 1986 Silver Eagle and Gold Proof set but that is just a coincidence.

I always liked 1958, good lower mintage year, plus the last wheat. Sold my proof set though.

Shout out for 1967! I have a nice half dollar, couple of them actually, the rest of them I see in my pocket change occasionally.

Have a number of 1867 coins as type coins, but far from a complete year set.

I have thought of doing a 100 year set for myself, but I will wait until I finish the 1940 set I am assembling for my dad's birthyear.

I've got a complete 1958 set, both proof and business strike.

I'm working on an 1858 business strike set, although I doubt it will ever be completed as there are a couple of gold pieces that are prohibitively expensive. There are 29 date/mm in the set, of which I hope to get about 27. Currently I've got 10 pieces. Here's the set as it currently stands.
