small Colonial collection

I started putting together a collection of Colonial era coins, this is what I have gotten so far.

Don't know a whole lot about colonials, but I've acquired a few here and there when the mood and price struck.

Those are nice. Colonials are cool since they circulated when our country was in its infancy.
I've got some, but they will probably be my next task if I can ever finish my US Type set.

Welcome to the forums and I must say you have a good eye for the early copper. The certainly have great surfaces for the grade. Well done.

You have some excellent examples there. Are George III coins considered Colonials? I'm sure they circulated in the colonies, so I guess they should be considered. Welcome and continue to share.

Very nice start to a very attractive problem free set of mildly circulated coins. This is really a perfect time to be putting together a collection like this with the abundance of Colonial material on the market and still to come on the market. The super high grade or ultra rare things are still bringing some strong prices. But the choice problem free EF material is bringing less than it did several years ago.

I have always thought a collection has to be taken as a whole and if you can patiently put together an attractive set like this with great color and surfaces that has been mildly circulated by the hands of true colonists, you will be rewarded in many ways over time.

Very very nicely done. Collecting is a tricky thing. And the ability to put together a problem free, choice for the grade (no matter what CAC, PCGS, NGC say) is a very challenging thing. It takes a good eye, knowledge, turning down a lot of coins and plain old patience. But that is why they call it collecting and if you could do it over night, what fun would that be.

Seems like you are off to a great start. And with all these big sales on the market, now is the time to very affordably put together a choice VF/EF collection that will bring you pleasure for years.

You have nice coins. The thing I really like about the copper pieces is that the surfaces are hard and smooth. So many copper pieces from the era are corroded and unattractive.
