Very tough call! I'm leaning toward the first coin as it has a better strike and the mark
on the neck of the second coin is a bit of a distraction. I could happily live with either.

EDIT: Upon further review, the strikes are similar. The first coin seems a bit sharper
on the reverse, while the second coin has more hair detail.

Wow, tough choice.
I like the antique browns on that 1817 just a bit better than the blue below. Both are very attractive!

Definitely the 19/8. I'd settle for the 17, though.

1817 for me. Love that kind of toning the most, and all blue bust halves not so much...although the hair detail on ole blue is awesome !

I'll take the original, extra crispy 1817 half. That's just my type! I love the luster peeking through the subtle colors.

I've never really been able to wrap my head around the uniformly blue-toned coins.

I'm a luster slut, so I'd go with the blue one. But I prefer the color and toning on the first one better.

I usually get half Caribbean Jerk and half Hot Barbecue, but I like the 1817 better. Solid blue seems out of character for bust halves.

Always a fan of beautiful toning, and 1819/8 certainly has it! You can't go wrong with either one Lance!

I like the 1819 if I'm allowed to be picky. I don't like the spots/streaks on the obverse of the 1817

Strictly decided based on looks. No clue on grade, die marriage, etc. Awesome pics, as usual!

Something about a blue bust half doesn't fit for me but it does look very attractive. I'd go 1817

The first looks more natural, but has more marks on the main focal point (the cheek). But I'd go with that one.

The first coin.... as far as wings go, I like them seasoned with the Carolina Reaper - currently the hottest pepper in the world...1,569,300 Scoville units... and great flavor.... Cheers, RickO

Those are both killer coins.

Overall, I like the 1817 better.

Now if you could put the obverse of the 1817 together with the reverse of the 1819, ... then you would have an amazing coin!

Yep. On my iPad it looks much nicer ! Your biggest problem Lance is that it looks uncirculated....I'm pretty sure you prefer 58's

Don't care for the blue on the obverse of the 19, and the dang spot on the reverse of the 17 would bug me.

But I'd still kill to own either one of them...

They are both attractive examples but if I had to pick one, I would go with the blue toning one, it's a great look IMO.

As my 1819/8 Small 9 is an XF 45 I will go with that...

As a variety nut through and through I first run toward the overdate, but those stars look so nice on that 17.
Nope, gonna pretend there was no question involved here just 2 nice coins to see.
