BST complaint.

All i'm saying is when some one give a price and both say yes i'll take it it's a done deal if you cant do this dont sell on the BST. This is the 2nd time this happen.

Once a deal is made both parties should follow through with the deal. Can you tell us who the culprit is so we don't waste our time with him?

It is possible for things to break down over payment or shipping terms and cause one or both parties to want to walk away. Note: I have no idea what happened and was not involved.

Guys, we have no idea what happened. We have a partial story from one side. Maybe the other party just flaked out for no good reason and deserves the outrage. Or maybe they had unexpected bills, lost a job, spouse required them to cut back on purchases, seller wouldn't take PayPal, buyer didn't want to wait for registered and seller required it, etc.

Again, I have no connection with this deal in any way.

I was out, just back fixed spelling 'Complaint'

I was talking with them. It was on the BST last night saw some Barber Qurters and a gold pice I ask how much for the lot all of it they got back to me and said a price i said ok i'll take it and can i send a ck, they said yes but i just sold the gold pice for full price and i said that is what i wanted but thought i'll take the lot if it was a good price so they said no we sold the gold pice but we can sell you the barbers and that is when i said you can keep them and thank you. But it's not right i thought if you bumped the listing that put's you in line for the 1st offer but i guess it's not so with some. I wish there was a way to block this kind of seller. I deal with so many here i dont want to mix the Very good one's with the bad one's but i only had two so far, The other was just wrong flat out said i know we had a deal but the guy gave me more and what would you do and i said i would do what i said i was going to do and later when the price droped he ask if i wanted to buy one from him i said no thank you and that was it. And if it was payment i can do what ever you want just say But i will not send cash. If your close by i'll take it to you Ask Cucamonga coin or i will do a wire, M.O what ever but dont sell it out from under me.

If the seller came back at you with a price in response to your request, he should have at least offered you right of first refusal, if another buyer expressed interests, before selling the gold piece out from under you, imo.

First guy to commit to buy "I'll take it" should get it. The ones that get me are the ones that ask if you can do lower and think that's a commitment to buy.

Seller should have put a hold on coins .. but I have had some buyers wanting several days to decide on bullion, before confirming with payment

Not very difficult to figure out who the seller is on this one. FWIW, I think he is a young guy learning the ropes. Might be a good opportunity to educate him rather than attack him.

It was 4 or 5hr's i started it at 10PM Sat he got back to me at 5AM today sunday with a price for the lot and i got back to him at 10AM saying i'll take all of it and that is when he told me he sold it and it's not a attack just a slap on the hand to say don't do this any more, When you say some thing do it thats it. On the BST it's your werd and trust and if you dont have it maybe you need to sell some where els.

The ones that get me are the ones that try to low ball you then ask you what the absolute lowest you could do is. Then when you answer them, they ask you the same question over again. That's when I raise it.

You know this really irritates me that the OP had to go this route instead of personally but that is fine. So anyways, at the time that I gave Type2 my price for everything listed, I had up to five other personal messages, and many got the same price and others a different price as they only wanted one or two items. I never told him that he had first dibs or that the items were on hold for him. The first PM I actually had is the person who ended up with the 91-cc gold and he responded within 15 minutes saying he would take it. I WILL ADMIT I MADE A MISTAKE, that being not immediately stating to Type2 that the CC was already sold shortly after I gave him a quote. It was difficult as I was at my local Sunday coin show. I understand he's salty, but come on I didn't say he had first refusal or that they were on hold. The other personal messages also were told a quote and weren't surprised or mad when the coins were sold beating their quotes. My problem with this is that I feel the OP had to go overboard as far as expressing his feelings and make it obvious to the whole forum. I honestly don't feel that I did anything wrong, and that my only mistake was that I didn't mentioned the CC sold immediately after it was to him. On the other hand, he asked for a whole quote on everything, one coin sold, and then he didn't want the other ones available(3 out of the 4 he asked on). Now he's made saying I basically backed out on a deal. Anyways that's just my side of the sorry, I don't feel guilty as I didn't put them on hold or say he had first right to buy them so I don't get the salty attitude from the OP. I have plenty of high end posters like Commoncents05, Smitty, and Joebb21 that I do many high end transactions and never had any issues. I understand you wanted the coin badly, but I don't think this was the route to express your displeasure that you missed it. Its not my fault someone responded instantly and yours took 5 hours later.

I agree and feel that this could have been solved privately, I understand the displeasure from the OP for missing out but I don't need negativity effecting future deals so I just wanted to explain my side of things.

All is well on ebay. The BST never worked for me selling. And buying is a slippery slope too. A lot of guys don't want to sell to me because I'm a dealer, but that shouldn't matter if I have their interest at heart. Just because I have business in mind doesn't make me a bad person.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the sequence?

- Buyer asks for lot price for a number of items
- Seller provides price
- Seller sells part of the items in the lot to a different buyer
- Buyer states he wants to purchase the lot
- Seller indicates that part of the lot has been sold

If so I'm not really seeing the issue... There are lots of lookie-loo's asking for pricing on things and that is not the same as indicating that you are actually going to purchase. I agree with FadeToBlack, the early bird gets the worm .

This demonstrates there are TWO sides to every story. If the timeline is as above, then file it under "should have responded immediately when given a price to buy". Unfortunate timing, but such is life when buying and selling online. I am on the side of the dealer (rare for a collector in disagreements) but sometimes these things happen.

I DO appreciate the dealer stepping forward as I would work with someone like that anytime.

To me, it's not a done deal until both parties say "yes".

If I get a price I like and say okay, it's not an agreement until the seller says okay. If someone comes along before then, I'm out of luck.

there is nothing even slightly wrong with the sellers conduct in any respect.

The item is for sale. The price was quoted. Someone else bought and paid for the lot before the OP got around to responding.

Offer and acceptance is the 2 parts here. The offer was made and not accepted by the OP prior to another paying buyer , he has no basis for this public post about
this transaction.

I buy and sell a lot and have done so on the BST at times I sell to the first offer and seller I approve period. If a person expresses interest it is not an offer the person
paying gets the deal period. No one that sells any amount of items would think the OP has any leg to stand on.

I am the buyer of the gold , I was communicating with JGnumismatics before Type2 even responded that he sent a PM ... I agreed to terms and paid ... end of story . I have been around here awhile and there is no rule stating the first person to bump the thread wins . It is the first person to agree to the terms wins . I understand him being upset that he missed out , but is no fault of JGnumismatics . Sorry that this is a big misunderstanding ... but nothing malicious was ever intended or done wrong .

I always thought it was the first with good money and a good spellchecker that got the item.

If one person says I'll take at listed price it trumps someone saying I'll offer this much lower.
