- Buyer asks for lot price for a number of items - Seller provides price - Seller sells part of the items in the lot to a different buyer - Buyer states he wants to purchase the lot - Seller indicates that part of the lot has been sold
If so I'm not really seeing the issue... There are lots of lookie-loo's asking for pricing on things and that is not the same as indicating that you are actually going to purchase. I agree with FadeToBlack, the early bird gets the worm . >>

JG did nothing wrong here. Type2 is out of line by creating this thread and the continued criticism in additional posts.
I've done business with this seller and have not experienced any problem with him. He's a straight shooter, that I'll gladly do business with anytime !!!
This entire thread was unneeded...it's smells of sour grapes from the beginning. Seller did nothing wrong. Countless times at a show I've asked a dealer how much, walked around for a few hours (like Type2's 5 hours) came back to buy and the coins gone. The world doesn't revolve around me, people are going to conduct business.
<< <i>there is nothing even slightly wrong with the sellers conduct in any respect.
The item is for sale. The price was quoted. Someone else bought and paid for the lot before the OP got around to responding.
Offer and acceptance is the 2 parts here. The offer was made and not accepted by the OP prior to another paying buyer , he has no basis for this public post about this transaction.
I buy and sell a lot and have done so on the BST at times I sell to the first offer and seller I approve period. If a person expresses interest it is not an offer the person paying gets the deal period. No one that sells any amount of items would think the OP has any leg to stand on. >>
This.
<< <i>It's a real shame, some people don't honor their 'word'.

It's also an indication of someone's character when they whine like a petulant child when they lose out on something. But I digress.
In this case, no "word" was given to honor in the first place; the gold coin was sold before OP said he'd take the deal. JG did absolutely nothing even remotely questionable here, period. End of story.
All i'm saying is give the customers a bit of time to get back to you. I can only be on here for 18hr's a day we do have lives to live, It's not a big deal and i think Tony will love it. Just give your customers a bit of time to get back to you... This is the best post so far 3 pages.
PS:For the one's that think i was shopping no it was not like that.
I saw the listing and sent a PM @ 10:37PM Dec 20th and ask him for a price on all of it and went to sleep at 3:30AM on Dec 21.
He returned my PM: on Dec 21 @ 5:05AM with the price.
I then said i'll take them Dec 21 @ 10:04 AM.
Then @ 11:15 AM he tells me that he sold it And that is when i got hot.
If you want it you better get it while it's hot not 5 hrs later. Kinda like if there's a BIN on ebay of something that you really want. You had better not think about it to long.
No foul in my opinion. I sometimes hate doing things like this when you are sending out multiple messages to different people. Just to send a message back saying you will buy the lot does not make a deal in my opinion. The seller may want paypal only and you want to send a check 30 days later, until you agree on terms the deal is not done.
I can not tell you how many times I have been told "yes I will buy this or that" and it falls thru.

Exactly. Just because someone was interested and contacted you first doesn't mean the seller has to jump through hoops to get back in touch with you now that they have a second buyer who wants to pull the trigger right now. A lot of these transactions get messed up waiting for a reply to some request. I could see a transaction falling through just on the method of shipment. Hammer out all these things upfront before they come back around to bite both parties.

So how does one define "a bit of time?" 1hr? 4 hrs? 8 hrs? 24 hrs? 2 days? a week? I've seen all of these used as a definition since every buyer will have there own set of standards. Once there's a live offer on the line the seller doesn't have time to go back and contact all the looky-lous that have previously contacted them saying they're interested....but will get right back to them....after they check their funds, talk to their spouse, consult their psychic, etc. In the gold market on a fairly expensive coin, I don't like waiting more than 1 hour for anyone as that market can shift on a dime at any time. You take the guy with cash in hand immediately or you risk losing them. Next time rather than asking for a price, tell them what you would pay. At least you'll have a dog in the hunt for the time being. They can always get back to you with a counter-price.
As far as the "rule" of first shot for bumping a BST thread? I've bumped numerous BST threads just because I was interested in the item or the information the seller provided....but had zero interest in purchasing it. It means nothing. What matters more is the first PM, email, or phone call to the seller. You can bump the thread with the worlds "sold to XXXX." Just be sure to send a follow up PM in the event the seller doesn't check the thread before they check their PMs.

This would be a nightmare for sellers and is a terrible idea for many reasons.

Agreed. Asking for a price does not constitute a "meeting of the minds." There's always a chance that that potential buyer wouldn't like the price.

<< <i>The Pcgs Forum court rules innocent on all charges ! Case dismissed. >>
In the old days deals were done on a hand shake. Electronically we do not have an equivalent so occasionally the deals get a bit fuzzy.
Not an issue of innocence or guilt, just a misunderstanding. No reason to pile on the OP.
