1795 Flowing Hair Dollar - newp for me

This is a relatively new coin for me that I got in trade at the Gettysburg coin show a few months back. I am a Morgan collector but just couldn't pass this one up. I traded my 1893-S in PCGS F15 for this little slice of Americana, as I call it.
It was in a brand new holder with the hologram seal and just back from grading; and that show was the first (and last) show the dealer took it to. I really hated to see that Morgan go, but I have no buyers remorse.
John Figenbaum sold that 93-S to me and when I told him what I did, he said the 93-S was just a bridge. Exactly right, a portal to another world of coin collecting. What do you think? I've been working on attributing this one as PCGS did not. So far, my best estimate is B-5, BB-27, so any insight would be appreciated.
I'm not a good photographer as you can see the reflection of my light blue ipod in the lower left quarter of each image.

I remember when I got my first Flowing Hair Dollar! It felt so great. The 1893-S Morgan is a great coin, but I think that an early dollar like this one is even better, and definitely historically more important.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I've never owned either but would definitely choose the 1795 if given the choice.
I also like the comment about the 93-S being a bridge. Well put and something to remember when situations like this arise.

image looks a tad dark....hopefully you can get a better image to reveal her better
sweet piece though i'd be proud of
I am an infrequent poster here, but I am coming up on my bicentennial post - about to go from 'member' to 'senior member'. What better way than to post about a classic US coin? Perhaps a 200 post giveaway is in order as I have learned much on this board since 2006. In 8 1/2 years, I have averaged 0.06 posts per day. Geez, not many.
This coin caught my eye because it did look unmessed with and original, as a few of you noted. I've been looking for one for a long time, but as you know, just because you find one doesn't mean it's the one for you. So the search continued until this one.
This one is a PCGS F12, see below. I see no evidence of cleaning; just original surfaces. Although not evident in my pix, there is a little color on the eagles breast.
I, too, started with a 93-S Morgan in G4, traded it with additional cash for the F15, and then traded that coin for this F12 Flowing Hair dollar. I am quite pleased and have no regrets.
I think yours is a BB-27 although the bar in the left obv field must be very worn down (my H.O.). Congrats on finding such a choice example
Oh and I think trading a 93-s Morgan for this is definitely a trade up.
OINK
Absolutely! I would love to do that. To feel the heft and view the edge lettering. I carry an old worn out Morgan as a pocket piece and find myself 'coin tossing' it a lot just to hear that silver ring. That said, the Morgan cost me $12; this one, a bit more. But I can dream, right?
All the best,
...Tom

Have gone through several of these, always seeking the right one to keep. Here's my one and only flowing hair:

Congrats!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
<< <i> To me, it is always a good move to trade away something that you can find at just about any show for something that you may have to spend months or years in searching. >>
