Do you really think you have rights in this country anymore??

In NJ, a prosecutor took a man's property and the architectural plans of the house intended.
The prosecutor then proceeded to build that house on the seized property. He like the view, like the house.

glad i read that article and ty for posting it. for as short as it was, it sure packed a punch and there is so much to say, i'll opt to just say, wow.

It's not Democrats v Republicans, that's what your generation doesn't get.
What generation is PerryHall attached to?
So you keep them divided and fighting each other so that they cannot unite to fight you and put you out of power. That simple
Who wants to unite with the looney left.....they control the majority of the media, big education, big pharma, big everything.....and they will not compromise.
Please pass the Food Stamps, Sir......I'm having lobster tonight and watching the big game on my big LED TV.
Gotta go, someone is calling me on my new Obama phone.

One party wants big government and the other wants smaller government. For the record I'm 67 so I'm a baby boomer.

FTR, I'm 65 and a BB too.
The IRS is independant of the president and it takes over 80% of what it brings in to run, look up the operational facts it will make your brain pop.
Becoming a sovereign of the United States of America vs a citizen of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is sounding better every day. (look up the difference there is a big one)
<< <i>I don't like when people make jokes about food stamps. When I was 6yo my father was hit by a truck while on a motorcycle and was in and out of the hospital for 2 years and finally lost his right leg because of it. My mother could not find work where we lived and with out the food stamps we would have been hungry for many more nights than we were. I grew up in the desert and at times we did not even have running water for 2 or more months. To those taht have never needed help be thankful and do not make fun of those that do.

lostincoins, I am most sorry about your misfortune.....you are deserving of all the care you received and then some.....I hope you are feeling OK these days.
I firmly believe in a 'safety net' for the poor in America.
300 million U.S. citizens and 46 million on food stamps is something to highly ponder.

I can recall watching a TV movie, "Between Time and Timbuktu or Prometheus-5: A Space Fantasy" by Kurt Vonnegut.
One scene of the lovely insanity was of two men discussing which could control all the people.
One said a good man, the other said an evil man.
Then the realization that only one good and one evil, together, could control all.
...and they did.

dine off the corpse like a vulture with a left wing and a right wing.
doesn't help the other. What we get to see is just a show.
The way our government has transformed from serving the people to serving themselves it seems only natural they want unobstructed access to our coins, bullion, cash, property
or whatever.

It seems that in order to process the drug war 40 years ago we set in motion a process that is ending in us having a police state out of control. It is up to us intelligent people who see what is really happening to demand our representatives stop talking about whether there is a fan under their podium, and how this representative or that is a stooge for the President (Bush or Obama) and talk about how to change the laws back to a reasonable set of values. Lets all agree to get rid of victimless crimes to start..... like putting money in the bank....

If you are going to be crooked, do it with anything BUT your taxes. It is what brought down Al Capone! The moral of that story, you can get away with murder more than you can with not paying your taxes! Or even portray the illusion you are trying to avoid reporting requirements.

Nothing new here. Many, including a number of people involved in numismatics, are involved in structuring activities to avoid filing the 8300 forms. A number of such folks probably either under-report or do not report their income to the IRS. The 8300 form requirement form is to make it more difficult for those engaged in illegal activities, and also to make it more difficult for those who deal in cash to under-report / not report their income to the IRS.
I remember the large number of people on this forum who were 'unhappy' about the prospect of E-bay filing 1099-K forms to E-Bay sellers whose activity exceeded a certain amount. Coincidence?
The problem is that there aren't enough competent IRS employees, and / or supervisors of such employees, to distinguish between companies involved in normal business practices, and structuring transactions. And people being people, they make mistakes. Do you think the TPGs get it right all of the time? I have some ocean-front property in Oklahoma I can sell you.
We all know that many are drawn to businesses that are cash based because they don't want to report their earnings to the government. Depending on the under-reported amount, this is either a misdemeanor, or a felony. That means that income taxes are higher for the rest of us.
Go ahead and flame me about this. I don't care.

<< <i>He added that making deposits under $10,000 to evade reporting requirements, called structuring, is still a crime whether the money is from legal or illegal sources.

100% true. Political parties have little meaning now. Unabashed pure greed has taken over idealism. Each side is looking to see how much they can take for themselves and their friends.
I am not surprised how disinterested young people are in politics. I am however a little worried that because of such apathy, the younger generation will allow the old one to continue to wreck the world.
Civil forfeiture is a disgusting misuse of a good-intentioned policy, to seize the ill-gotten spoils of criminals so they can't otherwise use or hide it. However, the local law enforcement use of this policy is one that puts the burden on an innocent person proving his innocence, while government agents don't even need any burden of proof to seize. Horrible misinterpretation of the law, and those that abuse and profit from this are the scum of the earth. It's along the same lines as using the RICO racketeering laws to prosecute people that share music over the internet.
As much as the media is the tool of corporate interests, I do applaud the occasional times when they bring to light a story about corruption and a backlash follows.
<< <i>I know we have choices whether or not to open these kinds of threads on here (nothing against the OP), so I shouldn't act too surprised to see the usual simplistic, sound-bite slop responses to a topic like this.

So you are saying that the IRS takes 80% of what it collects [which is trillions] just to run the IRS and not the Government as a whole? If it's the former then it's amazing how horribly inefficient it is. That's like saying that it takes 80% of Exxon's billions in revenue just to run it's accounting department.
