Maverick, Grand Prix and Rockford Files.

I saw Grand Prix in the theater in 1966, became a lifelong auto racing fan because of it.

I remember him as the "chiseler" in "The Great Escape" with Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson. What a fantastic role!

    James Garner?

I thought he had died a few years ago. Didn't realize he had still been kickin' until now. image

Agreed, he was a great actor, and memorable. Reminded everybody in my family of my Uncle Logan.

Unca' Logie died a couple of years ago, which may explain why I prematurely assumed that Garner, his Hollywood alter-ego, had too.

Yeah sad!image I too loved him as an actor. Murphy's Romance was my favorite! The role Mr. Garner portrayed makes me think how the gentleman really was in real life. Well mannered, laid back and old fashion. Like in the scene with Sally Fields, when they both leave the movie theater, after seeing a horrible and gory fright movie. When both agree, " they didn't like those kind of movies!" Some other well known actors in the movie must be feeling the same as us here on this thread. He'll be missed.image
