"UNSOLICITED OFFERS"

Unsolicited Offers..................I don't believe I've ever made one BUT I may have hinted around about it.
Your thoughts........Are you offended by them, do you welcome them, are you bothered by them, ETC. ETC ETC ?
Is there a certain protocol for those that do so (Serious Question)

<< <i>I've made a few over the years. I have always tried to be polite when inquiring and have found that the responses are polite as well. Have been successful twice as I remember. >>
My philosophy and experience too.

I actually bought a $400,000 building a couple of months back with an unsolicited offer. It's one of several I've done that with. And I've walked into a half-dozen other places in the last six months with the same approach: Find out who the owner is, stop in to see if they're there, and make them an offer.
I not always successful--at least not on the first try at the first price. But waiting for something you want or need to come on the market is an excellent way to put yourself into competition with others who want or need it.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

OK, who solicited whom? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have an ex. RYK box of 20... He has a Boosi box of 1
I'm afraid I'm the culprit.
In all seriousness, yes I have made unsolicited offers. Generally ask if the individual would consider an offer. Rarely would I just throw a number out there but if you do you should know what you are doing and make it a strong offer.

I agree. It is not advisable to try to pry a coin not offered for sale with a lowball price!

Or never getting a shot at it.
I've sent PMs that read like, "if you decide to sell that, keep me in mind" but not often

It landed me this gorgeous example. I have upgraded it as a type piece, but still love it so much that I do not have any plans to sell it.

SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
Auction brought him a 100.00 loss on the coin. Perhaps my "Low-ball" offer of a 100.00 profit wasn't so bad.
BTW, it's been years since this happened so I could be off a touch on the number he paid for it but I think I'm close. So I don't make offers anymore. I will pay up if I choose, but they have to put a number if I am to buy. If not I can live without any coin.
