GTG: Newp Peace Dollar - will it grade?

first, i am not planning on sending this coin in for grading.
just thought I'd get some opinions on it, will it straight-grade if sent in, and what would the grade be?

i'm aware of the rim damage at 10:00 o'clock on the reverse and the mark above "IN GOD" (reeded edged coin hit?), i still like the coin..

have fun with it!

thanks!

    Colorful album toned slider?

I think the toning will cause it not to grade.

Yes it would grade, no it is not worth doing so.

I don't think the color is legit as far as having formed in a album or envelope.

It looks like it was accelerated with heat glancing at the full spectrum of rainbow colors on the obverse rims.

  • My guess is that it would it would share a similar fate to the one I posted several days ago

AU53-55 depending on residual luster. Rub & loss of normal surface texture is visible on cheek & neck. Color is acceptable, but not attractive. Reedmark on cheek is a downer. Lots of hits & bagmarks, especially on the rims and in the left obverse field. Rim issues are +/- acceptable at this grade.

The 1923-P is one of the most numerous silver dollars ever produced in the US. Sliders like this are available by the thousands.

    95% it wouldn't grade

    5% it would

so basically not worth sending in with those odds

wish i could sell coins here but i don't have the status coins or coins that will make you all rich :'(

I think it would grade....any anything from AU55 to MS62. Not worth sending in though for those numbers. You can cherry pick BU rolls at $40 a coin and find nicer ones.

My guess is 58 or 61. It's not like PCGS has a big downside in giving this a grade. image

The toning looks bogus to me. FWIW.
  • This one is graded by PCGS and has similar rim color carry over so you might have a chance as it could be album toning. It could also have been cooked with a torch on the side? Well here is the coin.

Something about the rim toning from 2:00 on makes me uneasy.

Probably not worth grading, but I like how the obverse toning looks, whether or not it would pass muster at a TPG.

Would make a nice album coin, as mentioned.

ya, rim hit, if not for the dubious color it wouldn't pass muster, imo
lostincoins coin , no chance that coin was blowtorched. its as original toning as they come there.
not super pretty sometimes but has its own characteristics.

    .
make sure it hasn't been cleaned and then retoned. a lot of peace dollars out there with the brown reverses and obv toning have been cleaned first and of course a lot of them haven't too.
