So just when you think a pawn shop is a waste of time....
There I am in a pawn shop. I ask to see if they have any Morgans. Out come 30 or so of them. I see two "nice" ones. I purchase them for $29 each. I get them graded....huh....
Line # Item # Cert # PCGS No. CoinDate Denomination Variety Country Grade
1 1 26799503 97143 1883 $1 USA MS64+DM
2 1 26799504 97143 1883 $1 USA MS64DM
Easily $1200-1500, depending on the market.
Should I tell them they don't know what they are doing, invite them here, or return them so they can learn from their mistakes?
Seems to me that I used my knowledge and good dumb luck for once. Should I be punished for it?

Take the coins back. Show 'em what you scored. Then give them half of the projected yet unrealized windfall profits just to be fair.
you should probably consider what you would be doing if they had returned from PCGS as "Counterfeit" or "Genuine" BB'd and let that be your guide.
<< <i>The pawn shop probably paid less than melt for them. Your gain! Congrats! >>
Yup, What are the chances the pawn shop will share any of this wind fall profit with the person they bought these coins from?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

And thank you for not being intimidated by the jealous posters.

yes, and I just wanted to encourage others to continue to post their finds.

Kidding aside, very nice pickups, and great grades!! I'd not tell them a damn word. With grades like that (DM's for $29 ea???), sounds like this place is 'prime real estate', so to speak.

Seriously nice score... Now I'll have to check my local pawn shop too
I limited general experience with pawn shop operators has been that they are about as friendly as junkyard dogs, especially when they found out that I knew something about coins. I would characterized it as "unwarranted hostility."
The one exception was a shop in Florida that a coin dealer recommended to me to evaluate a silver tea service my father-in-law owns. They were friendly and quite professional.
Fabulous.
anyways good score
opinions are words spoken by those who have little or no clue on the issue in front them
likes do not pay bills, buyers do
Very low sellers fees and no removing items with a mistake in the listing.
It should be popular.

Maybe you will get your own American Coin Picker TV show.
"A car is a tool that takes you from one place to another. Everything beyond that is a payment for other people's perception of you."
would be best. But, sans that, then sell to a car dealer.
Same with selling coins to a Pawn Shop. Eh', stupid idea in my opinion. Perhaps it was a pawn that did not get redeemed.

And during "bad times ", is when the best bargains are had.
I love shopping at pawn shops for tools and instruments, etc. Usually don't have a lot of luck with coins. Would rather work for them (pawn shop numismatic dept.) than against them.
Not often will the "classics" get by without closer scrutiny. So in that regard, from one "hopeful treasure hunter" to another. YOU SUCK….. I mean like a big dog.

Stay on the line a little bit longer. I've almost got the location pin-pointed and I'll be there in a few minutes.

What is the current temp at that town right now?
(so I can google and narrow down the location!.......
......I collect old stuff......
I am calling BS on this. Coins were graded at the end of 2012.
Oh I suppose some will say, but he did get them from a pawn shop a year and half ago. "Whatever" is what I say back, right now!
I have not tended to post anything on scores about coins on this board due to the reception that seems to be pervasive around here. Instead of good job, it is met with derision by a few....the whole point to my post was to point out this problem. I find it sad that we chase peeps away from posting due to this kind of behavior. I wonder how many have stopped posting here due to these problems....one can speculate though...
I, for one, was super happy about AUandAG (Bob's) score a while ago.....
I was also happy for TDN....
I was sorely disappointed by the comments then posted into the TDN thread.

Hush now.....not saying anything other than "hot!"
OK, I take it back! I forgot about you! See what happens as we get older?
I also won't tell everyone where to find that pawn shop.
I would go back on regular basis to see if any more.....
I always have thought there was nothing in pawn shops for coins except overpriced, overgraded, cleaned junk. It appears I need to reconsider that view.
