The real problem with shipping HOF Coins at the mint ?

I have asked the Mint for some clarification on the shipping delays, and I believe it is hurting the Mint’s image to continue to allow this situation to fester without providing any info.
Some people in the blogosphere say they were told by CS reps that there are production problems. If so, the Mint really has an obligation to tell its customers who have spent millions of dollars on these products what is going on.
And quite frankly, like many other buyers I am not pleased with the way those free black bags were handled. They charged me shipping on all my unshipped orders so they could mail a box with a reusable bag. The bags should only be shipped with the product, and the buyer should be able to opt out as many do not want them. If the Mint fails to provide the products we are expecting, are we going to get refunds on shipping charges for those bags?
I am not trying to pile on here, and have defended the Mint many times in my articles, but this situation needs to be addressed asap. And in all the years I have been a Mint customer, this is by far the worst order fulfillment fiasco I have encountered. It is one thing when, such as with some of the special silver eagle sets, we were told upfront to expect a delay of a couple months, but in this case orders placed within a couple hrs of the start of sales on March 27 have estimated shipping dates that are getting pushed out to the middle of the summer with no explanation given.
Other mints around the world do sometimes encounter production or other delays, but they make that info. available to their customer or to the dealers who distribute their products.

has turned many people off to buying many mint issues except for the hottest of items. Anyone who looks at the last few years
of issues will see declines in almost all products, with only the hottest and most flippable coins doing really well. This will eventually
come back to be an issue for them.

Is the Mint becoming another DeBeers? Controling the supply can only help the market get better returns.

Not entirely true since the US Mint Fulfillment Center does not charge credit cards until the items are being prepared to ship.
They may have received millions of dollars in orders but they have not been "paid" for millions of dollars in orders.
Louis Golina certainly has a legitimate concern regarding the Mint Bags though in that, if I ordered HOF coins and got charged $4.95 for the shipping "of the bag" and then decided to "CANCEL" my HOF order, would the US Mint/Novitex refund me the shipping charges? If so do I have to return the bag?
Certainly not a Gold Star on the US Mints reputation and I'm fairly confident that this will be addressed at some point in the future. At least I hope it is as I'm thinking that Novitex is going to get an earful from the US Mint Management for the mishandling of these "Mint Bags". While the intent was sincere, the execution has been a disaster.
BTW, as some may know, it appears that PitneyBowes Management Services, a subsidiary of PitneyBowes, has been sold to a Company called Novitex.

Yes refund of $4.95 would be issued and you do NOT have to return the bag.
First hand experience.

I read the directions too and logged in at 12:00. I could not order until 1:18 and still do not have the gold.
The directions didn't mention that you could log in early..

Lucky you. I followed all of the directions, too. I've been ordering from the mint for years, so I didn't make any rookie mistakes. I had an initial 44 minute wait in the "Wait Room", then when my time came up, nothing happened. Not wanting to lose my place and start over, I kept waiting for the mint website to come back. It never did. Finally I gave up and started over. My order was completed at 4:00 PM. Needless to say, I'm still waiting for my coins...

From a collector's standpoint I just want to know if I will receive them (the gold) at all? How do I know? Or will I know when I know and I just have to wait??

I once pondered that the Mint may have considered a Lunar New Year but decided not to. I think even that would need some Congressional approval.
The problems will need to get fixed sooner rather than later as these can only be released this year.
To those think that the baseball half eagle and dollar are going to be "great coins" in the future, I'd say think again. The mintages are too high, and once the bloom comes off the rose, perhaps as soon as next year, these things will be selling for close to their issue price. We saw this thirty years ago with the Statue of Liberty $5 gold pieces. The coins once sold for close to triple the issue price. Now they sell for close to melt.
