I do recall the story a couple years ago. It may have posted on the OFR if not here.

Ohhh man! I wonder if there was a surge in locked "unsearched" safes for sale on the BAy after that story?

IMO it's tacky that the seller even asked for a cut of the loot...especially after the buyer paid $79 in shipping! image

As much as I don't want to dog the seller, it's tough to imagine selling a locked safe (contents unknown) .........

I agree. especially when the auction said "what you see is what you get" and "no returns."

I fully agree with you as I just can't imagine who (other then this one seller) in their right mind would sell a sealed safe without peeking inside image

I see the idiot seller's newfound sense of ethics and morality dictate that he should be paid 1/2 of the money, but what does the seller think the person he got the safe from is entitled to?

Some years ago, the husband of a lady that worked for me purchased a locked safe. He had a locksmith open it and there were Morgan, Peace dollars and silver bars inside. Not a lot, about seven bars and I believe twenty four silver dollars.... but still a nice surprise. And yes, I did see them... Cheers, RickO

The lucky buyer now gets to report $26,000 in income on the purchase of that safe. Have to love positive Ebay feedback. image

Seller is an idiot for selling the safe, buyer is an idiot for opening his mouth.

    I didn't think about the buyer's blunder but you're 100% right.
