The first year of issue is the most interesting year for Morgan dollars so far as I'm concerned. There were so many interesting varieties including the seven tail feather, eight tail feather, the seven over eight tail feather and the reverse of '79, which was not included in this Capital Plastic set holder for whatever reason. I know that the really expensive date and mint mark combinations are a lot sexier, but if you are into the history, 1878 still floats my boat.

The coin is obviously a very Choice Mint State piece, perhaps an MS-65 on a good day, but that hardly matters. Off-center Morgan dollars are almost as rare as genuine U.S. coins imported from China.

Thanks... It's in a older PCGS MS65 holder and history wise Fred Weinberg found it in a sealed bag of 1898 Philly dollars he opened in the 1980's.

Just a common date, but an example of the old ANACS toning that I find attractive.

Would you believe I am at present *gasp* completely Morganless?

Wonder how many other people here can say that.
