Local Fort Worth coin show was buzzing saturday!!

I went to the small local coin show in Fort Worth Tx yesterday around 11 am with a friend of mine. . I was surprised that I had to park so far out as the last 3 or 4 shows seemed quiet. I paid the 3 bucks and entered. Lots of traffic and people leaning over and blocking the dealer cases. Just getting down the isle was a challenge at times. First dealer I saw was Ed and Lance Hipps. They had the usual nice coins as always but I was on more of a mission. I was think of 90 percent silver. I stopped at a dealers table called Square Deal Collectibles. He had a couple bags of 90 percent silver in 100 face bags. I ask the price and he said 1600. I bought the dimes. As soon as I stated counting out the money I seemed his table was getting swarmed with others looking to see what was going on. I paid and walked off. I looked back and saw 100 dollar bills being handed over from others. I stopped and looked at some capped bust half silver dollars at a few dealers as I am thinking I want to put together a nice circulated date set in vf-30 or so. I could have picked up a half dozen nice ones without breaking the bank but not quite sure what grade range price I am really wanted to try to do. I picked up a few norfed 10 dollar coins, looked at a ngc AU 58 1955 double die. ( I REALLY want one) just not sure how much I want to tie up in one. I stopped and picked up a 100 face bag of 90 percent quarters for the same 1600 at another table. Looked at some nice large notes. This was a small show with probably around 75 dealers but looked like everyone was selling or had a lot of lookers at the tables. A lot of the dealers were friendly and making small talk. I was in my own little world for a minute and a couple of dealers said how is it going Mark??? I am like I don't know these guys or if I did I forgot who they were when I realized I had a name tag on. LOL A senior moment at 50 years old. I finished my first lap.
I decided to make a victory lap after I walked out to the car to stash the 90 percent silver. I stopped back by Square Deals again and inquired about some Mexican gold in 2 or 2.5 peso. Quoted me at 62/78 and picked up a few 2.5's. Would have picked up more but he just had a few. Stopped and tried to pick up a few capped bust halves but failed. I failed not because they were over priced but I offered a little low, not insulting low but not high enough to get the dealer interested in selling at my offer. He did counter with price that I was surprised at but my billfold was already feeling stressed and I passed.
My friend bought a few circulated type coins and some raw gold and was happy at the prices he paid.
I saw a lot of nice coins some fairly priced, some high and more people that I expected to see. I have slowed down on making the coin show rounds but last year the big TNA show in Ft Worth looked like a ghost town and the few after that did not seem very well attended. Maybe 2014 will be a good year although my business seems weak this year, maybe my customer base with get big refunds from uncle sam and things will turn around.
I left the coin show and my friend and I went to the gun show at Big Town in Mesquite. The gun show was super crowded as usual but from what I could see not a super lot of buying unless it was tactical and cheap. I have spent a lot of time over the last 2 years setting up at gun shows and could write 10 pages on my take view of gun shows and where they are headed but this is a coin forum. But I did pick up a super clean Browning nomad 22, intertec 22 from a guys walking and a Noreen 25-06 in a ar platform. $300, $180 and $1500 and a tactical flashlight and cool mount for my kel tec shot gun that I will never turn on but looks cool.

Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
I liked his prices on the Mexican Gold - would have picked up a few too. I buy nice 5 Peso pieces whenever the price is right. I think a nice challenging set would be a quality set of 50 Peso pieces.

You read that correctly. I had the 2 bags under my blue jean coat. I opened the trunk and slung it in coat and all. I did remember to take the keys out of the ignition this time.
The coin show seemed busier than usual, maybe the 2 bad days at the stock market had something to do with it? It was the 1st of the month and payday for some? I deal with the lower level with my rent property. I generally stay 100 percent full and collect 95 percent. I have 5 vacant duplexs right now. Over the last 20 years I have never had 5 vacant at one time except the crash of 09 with I had 20 vacant for a while.
A great day, coffee with the old timers at the local gas station, a trip to a coin show followed by gun show. The weather was also decent.

Actually this was a small show at Lockheed rec area. I was parked about 8 feet from the guard shack that stops all cars coming inside. I would not do this at a lot of places. The Houston coin show worries me walking back to the car when I have nothing. I am not super paranoid but I do not go out of my way to flash what I am doing. I keep different amounts of cash in different pockets, socks, shirt pockets etc. If I need to bring out 500 bucks I do not get it out of the 2500 cash pcket as long as I can remember which pocket I put it in.
My new years resolution was to quite writing my pin numbers on the front of my credit cards.
