To all those who hit 10 years this January and Now - 20,000 Posts

For many, this our 10 year anniversary here. Of course some more. I just realized this last weekend.

I’d never dream of counting the number of hours spent here. On the positive side? It’s kept me out of bars. image

I can assure you’ll learn something every day. And, I’m sure we’ve all made some really nice friendships along the way.

We’ve seen many people come and go. There’s been moments of joy as well as sorrow. We’ve witnessed some genuine train wrecks while, also, having the privilege of viewing people at their best. And most importantly, regardless of past experiences piquing incredulity, we’ve found that board members are very compassionate and generous with their time and resources.

I remember watching an episode of “All in the Family” where Archie learned an important lesson from a mentally challenged store worker: “Every man is my superior in that I may learn from him.”

I guess I’m alluding to the fact that everyone is equal here. The size of collections, the number of posts, the number of years here neither provides access nor privilege. We all have to earn respect.

So, on my 10th anniversary, I’d like to just say thanx. image

Didn't even realize I hit 10 years in December. I joined the boards basically with the sole purpose of finding a PSA 9 '79 OPC Gretzky rookie, and the members here were very instrumental in helping me land one rather quickly.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Well put indeed. I gotta admit, I enjoy these boards more than I don't - but the gap between the two is beginning to narrow. It's nice and refreshing to see such an eloquent - well put post. It just might help to begin to widen that gap a little bit!!

I just looked and realized I will have been here 10 years in June. That is a long time to be hanging out with you guys on these boards. Literally, my whole decade of my 40's consisted of the CU boards in my life in some way, shape or form.

Congrats on the 10 years Mike and even though the boards have changed and many posters have come and gone you are one of the consistent one's I know I look up to!
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!
  • I read more than I post, and a lot of the guys in this thread are the reason I read.

Im approaching 10 years myself and I can certainly say its always been fun logging on here, even still after being out of the card game for several years now.

Needless to say I have had many laughs and positive chats with so many different people here over the years, I still remember some of the lunatics, scammers and your basic complete A-holes as well however their stay has always been limited due to the community here that keeps this place solid.

I have done thousands of dollars worth of bussiness here and every single transaction has been smooth and effortless, one time a non poster/non member contacted me from Arizona ( Im near Boston ) and wanted to buy over a thousand dollars worth of cards I had up on the BST and told me he would send me the cash up front just because he knew I was a long time poster and on a name to name basis with alot of the guys here so he knew he could trust me, it was then I realized how great a place this was.

I miss Lawnmowerman, BigDaddyBowman,TNTonPMS, Rube to name a few.
