-11º in the frozen tundra of Maine when I awoke this morning; a balmy -3º now. That's air temperature, not wind chill. In the state capital of Augusta it was -32º. I will certainly be ready for Orlando in a few days.

The Governor of Minnesota cancelled school statewide on Monday. The highs in the warmest parts of the state are expected to be around -10F, with windchills around -30F. This is the first time the Governor has taken such an action since 1996. Suffice it to say that this cold blast is abnormal.

Was 50 here in SD yesterday and will be 9 today, the way it goes in winter, at least we get some warm spells to melt off snow and it doesn't build up here for long. Windshields, weighters, and heated vests make motorcycling, gold mining, and rock hunting possible almost year round, but this is still the frontier out here. When it's below zero I say it's the big mans way of telling me to take pictures of coins or something or prepare for the next outing.

I used to hit FUN just to get a break from winter, but the times I did it would be a warm spell here and cold enough to make lizards fall to of trees there or the times you get jammed by storms trying to get back home on time and miss work.

60° here this morning in SW florida on the islands, and cloudy. We had the heat on last night as it dipped to the low 50's. Anything much below 75° and I'm cold, so you folks up there have my sympathies.

Hopefully it gets warmer for you good people attending FUN next week, the weather can turn on a dime down here, this was earlier this week when it was warmer:

ouch, how long did that take ?

I do like the snow as we never get it. In fact, (when I was younger) we go would cross country ski backpacking, and sent up a tent on the snowimage

No frostbite ever as we were always well prepared.

i find it odd that certain people can begin a thread that has zero to do with coins and it gets bashed, and this one is well received, is there any explanation for this ?

It's about 55 degress in central Florida. Tuesday is going to be a cold day here with the temps not reaching 50 degress. I know that sounds wonderful for most of you up north, but down here that's cold day when folks down here get out their parkas. I'm not kidding.

We got our plant coverings down from the attic today, anticipating a possible freeze watch early next week. Good news though, it's supposed to warm back up into the 70's later in the week.

It's 64 and sunny here in the SF Bay area. I just got back yesterday from Bangkok, Thailand where it was about 90, so it feels a little cold. My eldest daughter flew back from Bangkok to NYC yesterday, so she felt a temperature drop of around 75 degrees.
