That's one beautiful Buffalo!! The only thing I see, is a bit of a weak strike in the 'Liberty' area, but I still think it has a decent chance at a bump to PR65 if resubmitted.
I beleive that it will come back in its current holder baised on the pics, lack of pop and slight strike weakness on the front shoulder are the limiting factors imo.
Figure $1000 for a really nice 64, which you might have bought for $875.
PCGS 65's are solid at $1600+, maybe $2100 if beaned. Seems non-CAC NGC PF66 coins occasionally show up around the same number.
I'd go for a gold bean before anything else. Outrageous Hail Mary as it might be, a gold bean PR64 will probably bring $2500-2800, almost halfway to PCGS PF66 greenies. The long shot gold at $12.50 is inconsequential in terms of cost/benefit.
Doesn't go gold, it's still in its rattler. Send it in Express Reconsideration. If it grades PR65 it might easily go green on originality.
Grading is a game. That's a nice coin with a variety of good options to play. If you can't pay for three fees, you're not picking the right material.

It costs about $100 to use the reconsideration service. Do you even add that much value if it upgrades? >>
It's a Proof, so by the price guide it would make a $900 difference if it makes a 5. But I still think a really nice 4 in Rattler could outperform a freshly graded 5 price wise, especially with a sticker (either one).
Unless you are afraid of a BB why use reconsideration and pay a premium for an upgrade? Don't even think of regrade (low odds). Just crack it and submit raw. Lance.

JMO . . . But I think it would be a real shame to crack a proof Buff out of a rat holder . . . Especially if it didn't upgrade ! ! !
Guess I'm with the folks that say leave it in the current holder and go for gold.

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set: 1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S. Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
You have a very nice coin there. This is a proof coin so you have to consider that when thinking about the grade on this coin.
Looking at the high points around the bison's front and back haunches you will see the ticks that keep this from being a GEM proof. While the Obverse is clearly GEM, the reverse has been subject to some rub, perhaps being pressed down in an album, or pushed across some surface, or some such thing. Not wear per se, just improper handling.

The grading game is a gamble whichever way you choose from the several options above... you pay your money and take your chances.... "Feeling lucky? Well do you??".... Oh yeah... nice Buff......Cheers, RickO
Well i fuged up i sent this one to a auction house, They sent it in for a bean and it came back with a Gold, Now it's off to auction. Oh well thats life i'll keep the next one.
Failing to understand how getting a gold bean is a bad thing....... Obviously you decided to part with it. I sort of hope you made that decision based on the coin and not the holder. You should still do very nicely I'd think.
That's the problem with these type of threads. The guy who has the coin in-hand sees something that the rest of us can't see in the photo. Probably it would've gotten that PR65, but I think Lance is right. If you really believe in it, submitting raw probably gives you the best odds.

I think it looks GEM, but then again, I'm easy.

<< <i>I don't see enough pop in the skin for GEM. Nice coin though and I would leave it as is. >>
Edited to add: Lovely originally toned Buff
It's a nice buff and someday this might be worth far more in it's current holder to someone attempting to do a rattler set.
