cross at any grade or crack out

I have a couple of coins that are nice and CAC'ed in the 2-4k range each . I don't think there is much downside and I would like them in PCGS holders and i am curious about the outcome. My question is should I crackout the coins or should I send them in as cross at any grade? Are there any special considerations? The coins in question are:

1856 Double Eaglein NGC AU53 CAC (expectation is that it will grade the same at PCGS)
1893 NGS PR66 CAC Barber dime in an old holder (i think it will CAMEO or maybe even DCAM)

Not my series but generally you would be lucky to get a straight cross with an NGC coin, in spite of a green bean.

Crossing has a premium fee that raw coins do not. Lots of us feel we get a better shake with a raw coin. PCGS prefers it too because they get to see the entire coin raw. So they don't have to be conservative, worrying about a hidden problem.

The raw downside is the risk of getting "genuine". If that's not a worry I would recommend sending them in raw.

I have recently been cracking out coins like those. In fact, I have a choice AU Type I $20 of similar grade/value at PCGS right now.

Those are lovely coins that I think would do best staying where they are...not enough upside when you factor added shipping and grading costs...let alone trying to re-CAC if that's your thing.

The dime may CAM but the price gap is small between non-CAM and CAM...and I just don't see a DCAM there. Still, sweet piece!

Just send the dime to ngc for a regrade so you can get the CAM or Ultra cam designation if deserving.

I'm guess the dime would not cross in that holder. The plastic on the NGC holders of that age is not very good, and a grader erring on the side of caution when grading it through the plastic will not say PR66.

Leave it be or better yet sell me the 1856 and buy a pcgs one. I don't drink koolaid

My last 4 NGC graded coins were cracked out. 2 graded the same at PCGS and the other 2 [one of which was CAC green] came back a grade lower. Not a big loss $wise, but I just can't see trying to cross time after time.

Which one is now not quite like the others?

I crack out myself. I think ngc makes PCGS see RED.
