1928-s Peace gorgeous strike!

Just wanted to share this pick up. It was part of a small junk silver dollar lot i bought locally. I paid more for this obviously. I initially wanted to just sell it but now that I've had a few people drool all over it (including the guy who photographed it), I'm tempted to just hang on to it.

    If you can look past the cleaning, then yeah, the strike is hammered. Personally, it's hard for me to appreciate the strike of a problem coin...

    Doesn't look cleaned to me, but it looks like a 28-D, as opposed to S. I could be wrong. solid strike!!

    In that case, I'll plan on quitting my job tomorrow. This would be the only 28-D in existence. As far as I know, no 28-Ds were ever struck.

    Something is wrong here! Did you shoot the wrong reverse?

    It's also an AU coin, and if it is the 'S", not worth much. Now if it is a "D", not worth anything! image

    Strike appears only slightly above average on a cleaned, AU coin.

    Looks like a 28-S. Looks AU. Looks particularly well-struck. I see no luster. Hard to evaluate the surfaces from these photos. I'd like to see the MM in a close-up.

    Sure appears to be a messed up S.... not a coin I would seek out, but sometimes a coin just appeals to people...if you like it, keep it. Cheers, RickO

    The large image makes it clear that it has been messed with.
    At the same time it's not a bad looking coin when you reduce the image.
    AU details, cleaned.

    It has a cleaned dull AU look to it. Maybe the photo doesnt do it justice? You seem to like it and that's all that matters.

    When it's in a junk silver lot, it probably is.

    I too think it's AU and cleaned.

    It is well struck. But has too many problems. The surfaces are unnatural. That may be from a cleaning, and/or it may need a good acetone bath. The digs below GOD are unfortunate, as is the gouge on eagle's lower wing.

    I'd sell it to the photographer who liked it so much. And find another photographer.
