At first glance non-copperphiles might think this is not much, but go try to find a straight graded head of '93 and you will see that this is a VERY tough coin. Heritage has sold only about 8 straight graded ones ever in their archives. PCGS has only graded 46 of them.

    At first glance, it looks like a Fine to me!
    And that is a variety I'd like to get some time, but as stated, most of them quite scudzy.

    Unfortunately the reverse isn't great. But, I didn't mind since its the obverse of this coin that shows it's variety.

    I actually sent it to PCGS today for reholdering and to be Trueviewed. Will post the pics when Phil sends em.

    Now I understand why PCGS graded that coin as a Good. The reverse lettering on the high grade S-21 I have is in very low relief, and it easy to why the obverse is so much better than the reverse. The S-21 has a reverse that was paired with the last of the Head of '93 cents.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    A 1794 Head of '93 is definitely near the top on the "short" list of coins I'd love to have in my set one day.

    A lot of meat on that obverse, I like it.

    Rays, you and Ankur have collections that just amaze me. I cannot imagine how much work and money went into assembling it. But, I really appreciate your collections and your contributions to educating neophytes like me.
