So we all know some of collect doily's for the holder. But who collects them by coin/type. Here are the different types I have would like to see others also.

Was just looking up this post to update a couple of new acquisitions and found the "Type Set" question from Chris. Sorry it was so late. Coaching and teaching, I may possibly miss a post or two but here we go . . . listed by Denomination, Type and the highest grade within the Type -----
Added to those are various proofs (I try not to include proofs in "Type" except where there are no other coins available in Doilies like the 2c or 3c) and 13 different Commemorative Types as well as one of the two Canadians (just sold the other). Interesting coins within the Type Set are the 1984 DD and 3-Legger Buff -- better errors and very fun in Doilies.
I believe that would account for 31 "Type" coins, although like always, in one or two definitions, -- "Type" might be in question.
Again, I did not list dates, but would be happy to respond to a PM if any questions are asked.
Have fun . .

WOW, this thread just celebrated it's fourth anniversary exactly one week ago. Hard to believe.....and DRUNNER, (it's been awhile, hope all is well with you and yours) is still just finding these, I can't believe they are still out there. The first sentence of this thread from Billlet7, I picked up a doily holdered Morgan from a forum member recently......., that forum member was me. I had 'em in my collection, would find 'em on ebay, just like any other PCGS or NGC slab, there was really nothing different, except you could visually see the vast difference.
This thread all started out with a response from me to a request from Simon, early, 3:14am on Oct 30th, with the sale confirmed on Nov 9. At that time, I had every slab 'type' from 1-5, with the 2.5, and 3.5.......just the quick list of slabs I gave him to choose from, boy, what they'd bring today. Another warm memory was finding that first Washie in the census for DRUNNER......look at what's happened with the Doily in 213 weeks!!!!
Yes, your have had an elemental start to this thread, Doilies, and of course, many other great 'takes' on numismatic threads.
I count you as one of the premier reasons numismatics has been a success for me, and this Board. This journey would not have been complete, or maybe possible, without your help. OK . . . . let's get back to finding those DOILIES.
Keep on posting, and travelling that high road Not Sure !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The old is a 2 piece slab, the new 1 piece. The design is different.
Pretty simple.

No serrated edges on the new doily insert. No alignment pins [these stick out like a sore thumb] on the new ones. The letters PCGS are on the ring in the old one and not on the slab like the new one.
Added this one at the FUN show - didn't need another but the price was right and it looked undergraded.

There was a 1921 Peace Dollar in an MS64 Doily in the Heritage Long Beach sale this evening... even with the Super Bowl on it still got quite a few bids and sold for $1762 (double what a regular PCGS MS64 should go for). I saw it in hand and didn't think it was an MS65, but maybe someone else did.

Thanks for posting the type set - impressive!
I think Drunners job just got a little bit harder now that PCGS is re-creating the Doily Slab Label.
Folks will have to pay attention to the cert numbers now to determine whether they have an authentic doily slab or one of these new knockoffs.

Seems like it's the same serial number as every other 1964d dime that has been recorded here so far. Must be common.
