Interesting . . . seeing a few retreads that keep popping up. The occasional newp but if you run a Doily search you get the same Morgies that have been relisted for 5 months and the flippers such as this LibNick. Wow, that original price was superb, but now, with the 1893 already in my set, I think I'd be looking for it a bit more opportunistically than $400 for an MS63. Cool coin . . . but after thrashing around trying to grab them all, the passion has not dwindled at all, but the discrimination may be taking hold.
Looking for opportunistic Doilies and Type that I don't have now more than the attempt to corner the market?
(And as an aside . . . the first 7 of the early Type Doilies went in to the beaners . . . 6/7 made it. The only one that didn't was the 2-center than had some spots. If approved by the Mods, I'll post detailed information on the full set later as they get back.)
I suspect the prominent chip is the reason for the relisting at a lower price??
Didn't see many at FUN - only bought 2.
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.
Only three added within the last month. The availability seems to have slowed significantly. Morgan "resales" seem to be popping-up, but not much else.
Congrats Tim on the currently unique 1870 proof half dime!
The majority of the additions I have had of late have been resales from other Forum members. Appreciated, but in effect, we are adding few new coins to the Census. In time the Census will take on more and more meaning as the appearance and number of Doilies can be tracked. The last 4 I have procured have already been listed in the Census.

Drunner, you guys should do a spreadsheet like I did for the 2.1's. It's much easier to track!
A long overdue update! Thanks for the contributions...will be working on transferring the data to an online spreadsheet...if I ever get the time to do it
A Peace Dollar Doily on GreatCollections (this is being auctioned on GreatCollections at the moment, no reserve, $1 min bid, ends Sunday, March 11, 2012):
Just watched this one sell on eBay last night, pretty nice premium for the holder. The coin is a 1946 Walking Liberty half in MS65.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

dealer from florida with a palm tree, in the back of the convention center had 10 or 12 doilys in their case, also had a black ngc slab. first time i had ever seen one.
You can add the 1862 half dime in au58 # is 6246486. A proof washington quarter pr66 # 4017158. and check this 1879-s dollar to see if in the census # 7305355 in MS 65.
The half cent is AWESOME! We now only have one denomination not represented in the census, the 20 cent piece (also missing the $4 and $50 coins, if you want to count those.)
We've added a new denomination (Classic Half cent,) a new type (Washington Proof,) and a new sub-type (1862 half dime.)
I suppose PCGS would know how many, tho they may not want to expend the effort to find out. I would think a few thousand, but there doesn't to be a lot of them around.

Yep, I have one very much like that one. Same date, mint mark and denomination. I don't recall the number on it though (I guess I could always look!).

I believe that yours would have the same number if it has a 64-D coin in it.

I wasn't sure if the 7000023 would repeat on all of them.
I have a new doily cert # to add to the growing list. Mine is an 1887 Morgan, MS64, cert # 7303207. I checked to make sure this hadn't been listed yet and thought it interesting to see 3 other 1887 Morgans with cert #'s beginning with 73032. I wonder if someone did a bulk submission back then. The other #'s listed so far end in 85, 86, and 93. Just an observation. I will try to post a pic when I can get to it. George
They may have sent in a roll which would be bulk. Was PCGS doing "bulk" back then? Check all the cert numbers +/- 10 on either side of yours. That would be 7303197 to 7303217.

Also want that proof Washington if you ever let her go!
Is that a fairly common thing?
