A question about sales on the BST?
I want to ask here first about payments on the BST board. Would it be a deal breaker to offer coins
on the BST and not take Pay Pal as a form of payment. I would like to offer coins on there but PP is such
a problem what with having a bank account attached to get your money from them. I hate having an account
on PP for mainly when you pay for something they take it out of your bank rather than a credit card and
I get a good percentage when using my CC. Yea sure you have the option before you make payment but
I forget to change and then it goes threw the bank. What y'all think?

There's always a Postal Money Order, too.
I prefer Paypal, particularly in dealing with those I don't know yet (both ends...buying and selling).
Second, you can have a PP account and have it linked to your CC, it just defaults to your bank account. Change it when you make any payment/purchase, and it will hit your CC.
As you state, you know this, but you find it inconvenient when you forget. Forget a couple of times and you should be much more likely to remember in the future
Third, your 2 problems seem polar opposite.....you state the issue is about selling and receiving funds with PP. Then you say your main problem is when using PP to pay. If that's the issue, then just don't buy anything with PP, but why not let people use it to pay you?
I'm confused where the real issue is, from what you have stated....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Just my view as a buyer and when I sell on the BST I only take pay pal. I of course pay the fee as a buyer and tend to use reg paypal.
Never an issue.

To me it's worth the PP fee to receive and I would not buy anything on the BST w/o paying for it via reg PP. Not that I don't trust the person that I'm dealing with, but it's an extra layer of security for both buyer or seller. As most of us know, the BST is not immune to scammers or con artists.
The account has never been linked to any bank account and the card gets the usual rewards...use the card for all sorts of stuff and get cash back.
Offsets some of their fees.
And I even got to downloaded my own image onto the card !

I use PayPal and always pay with my CC. You get to choose how to fund payment when paying through PayPal. The only issue is IF you have a PP balance and then that comes out first when paying.

As Bochiman said, change your defaults to where it automatically debits your credit card instead of your bank account.

During PP checkout you can select "change" for method of payment and choose the credit card tied to the PP account. Note that PP will always first take available funds from your PP account. to be able to "change" payment method to your credit card you must first initiate a transfer of available PP funds to your bank account, or spend the PP cash balance. Best to have a CC and a bank account tied to you PP account - it increases your options when paying for a purchase or receiving money. I have my ebay fee payment method set up to pay from my PP account and since I keep a zero PP balance at all times it automatically defaults to paying my ebay fees from the credit card.

OK, I'll try and clear up a couple of things.
I love using PP to buy for many reasons such as no trips to the 7/11 or bank or somewhere to get a money order
with the added cost for one and then a stamp and continuing on to the post office. Instant payment witch means
quick shipping. When selling it is good to have a bank account hooked to PP so that you can withdraw your balance
easily to you account.
BUT
With your bank account hooked up it is the first default for payment from your PP account and also like many on here
have stated that Pay Pal has frozen their account and in some cases they have been defrauded or at least feel they have
been by the buying party of the sale. These are why I do not like an account connected with PP.
Yes I know that I can change the form of payment with the option after signing into PP BUT dang it I forget and if anyone
can say they aren't just a little mad at themselves when they realize they used cash instead of credit card well okey dokey.
Do any of y'all remember pre PP when money orders & checks and a seldom cash payment was the only way? How about
back in the day when " Dealer Net " was around and if you where connected to it you would mail payment and the seller
would send product out at the same time?
So I am going to give it a try without PP and I really do appreciate the responses.
Thanks
Tiny
Also, by keeping a zero balance in a PP account, one can avoid having funds frozen. I always transfer remaining funds to bank account after paying for the shipping label on the latest sale.

Now I did not know or realize that. I thought that Pay Pal could withdraw money from you bank
account if you have a zero balance with PP. Very Good To Know!
Thank YOU

They can, if you owe them money. It's part of your agreement. Taking money you owe and freezing your funds are not the same thing.

Oh. Kay, I only thought I was going too watch a few movies from the Redbox.
Guess I"m reading the Pay Pal user agreement today.
I exclusively use PayPal for those I do not know.
Best of luck to you.

BTW help by forum members resolved my one bad deal years ago so I like many use it to deal.
I don't know Tiny at all, but based on several things, I wouldn't be afraid to mail him cash.
No, I wouldn't send cash through the usps but you get my point.

99% of the time I pass over items listed where paypal is not an option or add 3% for paypal is tacked on.
I just wrote a check last week for 2 items on the BST and I must admit, I grumbled while I wrote the check, while I addressed the envelope, while I wait for the check to clear, and waiting for the items to ship.
As I type this I'm looking at the envelope sitting on the other side of my desk that I forgot to mail last week.........
