I Told You I'd Be Back. Feels good to be up and running again.

It feels good to be back. I have been quite busy since I left over a year ago but I am glad to say I am ready to rejoin the numismatic community. Our family's move went relatively well transitioning from the convenience of big city Dallas, TX to the small rural community in Southwest Louisiana. I have been working dutifully on a new website and aquiring fresh material for it while raising our little girl.
If you are curious as to what I have been doing all this time, I have taken the time to write this article on the subject. My family and I have worked really hard to make the transition easy on the kids, making renovations to our house, and finding jobs.
My new website is linked to in my signature line if you care to check it out. I would love to hear any and all comments and / or critiques. I will be adding articles on a regular basis, some not coin related but on topics I hope you find interesting. I currently have tips on how to get Flash working on Android and Apple devices for example.

I read your article. Didn't speed-read or fall asleep at my computer. Well, maybe I did nod off once or twice but still managed to read the whole thing.
Glad you're back.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
<< <i>Welcome back! Who is Jhon E Cash? Anyway you have not missed much in my opinion, which isn't worth much. Bear passed away and BigE. These were big losses on the boards. Are you still working for the guy is Costa Rico? >>
His former beat partner got banned from NGC.
Glad you you're back Brandon! Will you be setting up at shows?

Great!

"Skimmed, but made it to the end. Dallas is a hectic place."
Yeah, it was nice having places to grocery shop close by but overall, not a great place, in my opinion, to raise our kids. You are right, too hectic.
"Hey Brandon, welcome back to the boards.
I read your article. Didn't speed-read or fall asleep at my computer. Well, maybe I did nod off once or twice but still managed to read the whole thing.
Glad you're back.

Thanks Mike. Sorry for the long read. Had alot to say.
"Welcome Back! I lived in the DFW area for 18 months. Not something I would ever wish to revisit. Glad the transitions life threw at you went fairly smooth."
So you know what I mean when I say Good Riddance.
"Every pic of Stella made me smile. "
Thanks, she is my world and does have a beautiful smile.
"Always love a comeback story, welcome back Brandon. "
Thanks, it was a bumpy road but the smooth pavement is in sight.
"Welcome back! Who is Jhon E Cash? Anyway you have not missed much in my opinion, which isn't worth much. Bear passed away and BigE. These were big losses on the boards. Are you still working for the guy is Costa Rico?"
Jhon E. Cash was who I worked with before moving to Louisiana. Sorry to hear about Bear and BigE. Saddens me to know. I agree, they were good guys and valuable to the boards. No regarding the guy from Costa Rico.
"His former beat partner got banned from NGC.
Glad you you're back Brandon! Will you be setting up at shows? "
I do not think Jhon was banned from NGC. Just clarifying. I'm pretty sure Adrian was though.
"Poorguy, have you ever considered establishing a course in IT as it relates to numismatics for the A.N.A. summer seminar ? "
Nope. I have enough on my plate at the moment.
"Glad your little one is doing great, I can bet she is only a "little bit" spoiled."
Thanks, I try to keep them from becoming spoiled but being close to both sets of grandparents makes that a daunting task.
"Looks like you made all the right choices for the right reasons (family). Your website is awesome! Welcome back, and much success to you in the future!"
Many thanks and I'm glad you understand. I appreciate the compliments on the website.
"A well written story Brandon. Do you plan to set up in Baltimore?"
Thank you. I tried to make it as chronologically correct as possible. Not gonna be in Baltimore. If I can make enough sales to raise cash in time to set-up at FUN in January, I'll shoot for that. Might attend some close shows I can drive to in the meantime though.
"Two years very well spent, even without the forum. Welcome back! "
I appreciate that. I have to say, taking a break from the forum did lower my blood pressure though.
"I really like the look of your website. Even better than the superlative look of the Anaconda site. "
Thank you. I tried really hard to make it visually appealing and functional in it's simplicity. Although it was not very simple to make the site seem simple.
"A big congrats! The new web site is sensational!"
Thanks, it was a big hurdle to get this site up and going. I was nervous about the launch but it seems to be going well so far.
"Welcome back! What I wouldn't give to try your Jambalaya!"
I still have some frozen if you want to stop on by and get some. Seriously, I had to make enough for 40 people and nobody came to get any after the competition. I have a freezer full of the stuff.
"Great story...I enjoyed every word.
Welcome back aboard! "
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
"Welcome back.
Awesome work on your web site."
Thanks, I appreciate that. It wasn't easy but it was worth it.
"interesting effect with the white halo around the coin
welcome back "
Thanks, I hope it is not too distracting. I just did not think the coins strictly on the black background highlighted them enough. It just didn't look right to me. I suppose the same thing can be said about the white feathering to someone else's perspective.
"Your daughter is a little doll. I like the look of the old wood floor you refinished. Nice job."
Thanks, She 26 months old and still only weighs 21 lbs and 28 inches tall. That floor was a real pain to do but when the wife says jump, you say how high. Right?
"Good to see you again!....cool website."
Thanks for the compliment, good to be back.
"Welcome back! Meanwhile, here's something I got from you sometime back..."
Thanks, I remember that one.
"Welocome back. Stella is adorable. Great looking web site. "
Thanks, Stella says her version of thank you. I appreciate the website compliments.
"I'll probably never buy a coin from you, but you appear to be a real quality upstanding guy. Your hard work is paying off. Glad you are back, and good luck to you and your family. "
Thanks, you never know. If you email me what you collect, I'll keep an eye out for it.
Whew, I think that is everybody.
You are one of those special coin guys that I met here back when I first started loving this hobby (and joined this PCGS forum) back in May, 2005. You have always treated me with so much class and respect and I am glad to see you back in action! I look forward to keeping up with your new website!
P.S. Are you by chance on Facebook also? If so, please share it here.

<< <i>Hey Brandon,

Thanks. I appreciate the compliments. I am on facebook but it is strictly reserved for family. For security reasons, everyone around here except for a close inner-circle think I work on computers, sell stuff on ebay, and set up at farmers markets selling homegrown peppers and chow chow (pickled diced onions, peppers, and garlic with spices) for a living now. I don't want word getting around here that I handle expensive coins. It was different when I lived so far away from them but now that I live so close once they know the entire town and surrounding areas would know and I don't want that. I do not keep any coins here, just for imaging and then they are off to safe storage. To most of my relatives mostly on my wife's side, I'm just their computer guy. Not fun but I think everyone would agree that keeping the fact that you handle expensive coins a secret regarding the immediate geographic location you live in is the best thing for our family's safety. Maybe I'm just paranoid from living in Dallas but it helps me sleep better at night knowing nobody has any reason to want to break into my home and put my family at risk thinking I have something valuable. I do not want to paint this town as unsafe. It is VERY safe and full of friendly people and family. Just not worth the risk of that ONE person knowing where they think expensive stuff is.
<< <i>A real blast from the past! Now I have a fellow "at home dad" who can also bristle at the "Mr. Mom" jokes! Hope you break the gender barrier at the next Mommy and Me meeting.
Best,

Trust me. I KNOW what being called Mr. Mom feels like. I was telling someone the other day, I've been transformed into a 1960's era housewife. Getting the dishes done, cooking, keeping the house tidy, washing and sanitizing bottles, handling all the doctors appointments, making sure the kids do their homework, ect.
Good to see you hanging around Brandon.
I'm glad you found some harmony away from all the hassle.
Just wanted to say I loved raising daughters and I'm jealous of you with your little sweety.
