New Heritage site
As you may have noticed, Heritage will be launching a new home (http://www.ha.com/information/ha-coming-soon.s). As active collectors, we wanted you to be the first to know that we expect that to happen this Wednesday the 17th, and we want to make sure you all know how to give us direct feedback (http://www.ha.com/common/contactus.php?txtTopicID=28#answer). We know that change can be a pain, so we tried to add new features and custom content to improve your experience without affecting the great functionality you’re used to.
PS. I was part of the team that worked on this, so if you like what you see, please submit that feedback too.

My understanding is that we require you to sign in during every session as a security measure.

+1000. I understand the security implications of not logging users out automatically but at least give some "read only" access to images/prices realized/etc. and require a re-authentication only when making a bid. The need to constantly log in is my biggest gripe with HA and what is otherwise a great platform.
I'm going to be on vacation for about a week beginning on Friday. However, if you submit the feedback through this form, it will be seen.

<< <i>I will be very interested in checking it out. One annoying thing for me on the existing site is that when I am frequently on my iPhone viewing the FULL SITE, I will click on something and it will take me to the mobile site which I do not like....then I have to click for the full site and get back to where I was. I'd like to see a SETTINGS area that we can go into and select a setting to NOT ever switch me over to the mobile site. Something like that. Besides that, I have very much enjoyed the site and look forward to the next version. Thank you for a great site. >>

Is there any possibility to have two browsing options for the auction archives: the new, guided navigation, and the old system? It seems possible, since either viewing method would pull from the same data. Any thoughts that you could share on this, Stewart, would be appreciated.
Numisma, the old version of the search hasn't been maintained, and we're unable to bring it back.

Here is what I wish you would (or perhaps have) fix: I am looking at a long list of commemorative coins. I am near the bottom of the list on the page. I see a nice coin I want to look at more closely so I click on it. I examine it and when I am done I hit the return button on my browser (Firefox). Or I click on the "commemorative silver" link near the top of the page. Either take me back to the list of coins...BUT they take me back at the very top of the list. Is it possible that when I return to the list I return near the point at which I clicked to view the coin? That way I do not have to repeatedly scroll down the page to get to the point in the list where I had been when I looked at the coin?
Thanks.

I always right click to open a new window, that way I dont seem to miss items.

Thanks!
I just have the sign-in page bookmarked, the boxes autofill on Firefox. Really not a big hassle. Takes about 1 second.

Absolutely THIS! So aggravating to scroll back over covered material. Thanks for allowing input.

Amen, that is what I do and I never lose my place! People need to learn how to use the tools they have.

Great point. It would be very nice to streamline this process.
Coin Rarities Online
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Please note that the change we will be making will only affect you if you hit the back button. If you click on the "Return to search" link or another similar link, you will still be taken to the top of the page.
As two or three of you mentioned, you can always open up the item page in a new window. I do this regularly on several sites (rarely Heritage) to make sure that I don't completely lose my place.

I didn't much like the last upgrade, but I love this one.
I especially appreciate the coin values from different sources all in one spot.
This will increase my personal use of site to several times a week at least.
Very happy with change.
I won't be using the site much until this is fixed!

Could you explain how to do this on a Mac with Firefox? Thanks Todd.

There is also a small icon on every Heritage lot link that will allow you to open the page in a new window.

Archives of sold coins
Featured coins coming soon
Since Stewart is on vacation now, I wanted to respond so that you don't have to wait.
The Auction Archives link is on the home page about midway down, in the Thinking of Selling block. The button says "Past Auction Archives", but you can also bookmark this link: http://coins.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?N=51+790+231&chkNotSold=0.
The featured items have been removed from the home page, although we are discussing options for how to incoporate them better than on the old home page, and we appreciate your feedback. In the meantime, you can get there by going to the search results and removing the other item types (current auctions, inventory, etc.) using the links in the left column. Also, you can bookmark this link:

the 2 top ways imo are holding ctrl then left-click a link like mentioned earlier in this thread and the other and slower method imo is right-click, open in new tab. sometimes links will open in new tab automatically, depending on browser settings and how the link(s) were coded.
this tutorial was done on a dell pc not a mac so there may be variations
There used to be a drop down box where I could instantly select what denomination and series I wanted to search. Now I have to go through several screens to specify the same thing and then back button out of those screens to begin a new search for a different denomination.
Please tell me that I'm using the site incorrectly, because if this is how it's designed to function the new site is a retrograde disaster.

<< <i>Searching the auction archives is dramatically more difficult than the previous site, . >>
I agree. I don't see any improved features. The following (which are my main uses) are more difficult than before:
1. Viewing auction previews of PCGS-graded large cents and colonials
2. Viewing auction archives of PCGS-graded large cents and colonials.
Why change a good thing? I don't understand it.
1. Bayard1908: We didn't change functionality on the search results page, only the look and feel. So please email me at MichaelW@HA.com and let me get someone in contact with you that can troubleshoot what is going on here.
2. brg5658: We also didn't change functionality related to the MyWantlist feature. Please email MichaelW@HA.com and we'll troubleshoot what you're seeing.
3. rays: I believe that the difficulty you're encountering has to do with the removal of the direct links to "coming soon", "open auctions", "Heritage inventory", etc. from the home page. This is something we were watching closely and decided earlier this week to add that functionality back in. We hope to have it done in the next few days, so thanks for your patience, as this was one of the very few actual functionaltiy changes we made.
All, the vast majority of the changes we made were to the backend, to allow us to deliver customized content based on what we know about our visitor's preferences, and most of that isn't visible to you yet. As we did this, we also modernized the look, made the site wider, etc.. We appreciate your patience during this transition, and we are eager to make sure that your experience with HA.com remains the best.
