Huge upgrades to #1 Franklin Set

Looks like GRFN set was submitted in entirety for regrades, resulting in the first two MS67+ FBL Franklins now existing.

Gradeflation marches on unabated...

Not sure I agree. The plus is a relatively new development meant to indicate coins that are at
the top of their grade level. Surely, some of the pre-existing MS67FBL coins were better than
    others, right?

    Nice stuff!

It looks like Wondercoin has a new POP 1/0 MS67FBL with his 51-D
Linky...but no pic of that coin.

Interestingly, the #1 set 51-D did not even upgrade to MS66+FBL. The 51-D is a very tough Denver mint coin to locate in grades above MS66FBL.

LOL! I guess so if it is a Pop 1! image

P.S. Because Coinfacts generally pictures nearly all (or all) classic pop 1/0 coins, I am under the assumption the coin had been pictured by PCGS, but the picture simply has not been posted yet. Next month, I may have to send the coin for a Tru-view if for some reason it was not pictured. It is a beauty!

I was a bit surprised to see that coin is not one of the incredible 54-S's that came out of the "$20,000 roll".

For those that don't remember, in the late 1980's or early 90's, a roll of 54-S coins that had been individually wrapped in tissue paper at the time of issue (or shortly thereafter) was auctioned by Bowers/Merena for the incredible hammer price of $20K.
Many of those had spectacular toning (that is easily recognized) and FBLs and several graded 66FBL and a cpl 67 ed at NGC.
I always guessed that the lone 67 54-S at PCGS was one of those NGC67's that had sucessfully crossed, but now I see it is not.

Wow. You know it's something special when, throughout the entire set, there are only 9 coins graded higher, and some of that count is duplicates! image

I was a little surprised to see the 58P as one of the 67+ FBL coins. If I might explain, I guess I pictured a coin with a little more charisma. Must be one that needs to be seen in hand.

That and the '48. If I could custom order Franklins they would all look like that. I think I'll be cracking out my 65 set. Guess I'll spend 'em or something.

    GRFN has been dethroned!

    << <i>GRFN has been dethroned! >>

I do not see it that way.

The GRFN set is only shiwing two coins. It looks like an administrative issue. Maybe the set is being regrade/reholdered and just needs to be updated on the list.

The 62-P PCGS MS66 FBL looks to have been sold to the the owner of the current finest Franklin Registry Set

If he is selling it, he should have retired it first. I think it is a regrade/reholder administrative issue. If the cert numbers changed, the new certs are not automatically added to the set. The old certs would automatically be removed from the registry database.
