1875 CC Seated Half Sold On EBAY - Nice Coin

I really liked this coin but didn't even come close in the bidding - got sniped at the end. What grade do you think it would get? Congrats if someone on here won it.

Nice 1875 CC

i think you were bailed out by the high bidder -- it's genuine, you can do better though.......displays nicely but my guess is 'in hand' and in natural light, problems will be evident

  • Are you sure of the authenticity? Sure seems to have very bold details considering that it appears to have no luster remaining.

Looks like a problem coin to me. Color looks off.

Whew - guess the sniper saved me image

I still really liked the look of the coin in the picture but who knows what it would have looked like in hand. I was most concerned with the hits on the obverse and also the lack of luster seemed odd considering the detail.

I bought a raw seated dollar off Ebay once.

    Once.

    Whizzed, rim-filled, and plugged.

    Good times.

It looks "off" to me. I agree. In hand there are probably issues not seen well in the photos

Something seems off about that coin. I think it's genuine but it's probably been cleaned and/or has altered surfaces. Be glad you lost.

I don't like the look of the surfaces.

Cleaned at some point, but mildly. Probably won't grade, though.

It's been cleaned, and it will have hairlines all over the fields when the winning bidder receives it.

I'd say smoothed at best, repaired at worst.
