Does this planchet clip distract from this token or add a little value to it?

I like the overall design of this token and was curious if the mint caused clip was a tiny bonus or a distraction, in your opinion?

to me it adds interest.....there is some irony in that being an apothecary weight, any missing mass (such as a clipped planchet) would affect the duty of measure

I also think it adds interest. A little something extra.

Irony? I thought it was copper/brass? image

I don't think it ads to the value, so yeah, a minor distraction.

I really don't know, but I don't think it's a big difference either way on a CWT, maybe a wash.

That ebay company appears to have a big following and they seem to get really strong prices for anything they put out there.

I like it... but I'm biased. It's odd to me that the clip isn't mentioned on the tag.

On a coin, it would be interesting, on a token, not so much... and no value added (IMO)....Cheers, RickO

i think it might add to it on a coin but not sure on a token. it might help some, why not. jmo

I agree....the fact that the piece is supposed to be a weight makes the clip more interesting.

If your a error collector then it's neat...

Now a token collector would most likely pass and wait for a non flawed example to surface.

That particular token is not uncommon with a clip, in fact you could have had this one in a lower grade earlier tonight on eBay for a fraction of the coin linked in the OP.

To me it is a minor distraction. I would not reject the piece out of hand, but if I had a choice between one with the clip and one without, I'd take the on without. BTW I have seen a number of examples of this variety with a clip, and as such I doubt that it weights "one dram." image
