Attractive coin. Looks like a slider from what I see. Touch of wear on bottom curls of hair, and on second diamond. Vertical lines on the top of the reverse shield don't look complete.

W/o seeing it in hand, I guess MS63, tic marks in obverse fields keeping it from being higher.
I can't see rub in these pics, but in hand it may be more detectable, but I can't see it being lower than a 58.

Regarding strike on IHC's, I used to reject MS65-66 Red IHC's that didn't have full diamonds or shields and got fired by more than one dealer for being too picky. image

AU55 ... but is that a scratch at 10-11 o'clock on the obverse?
    All glory is fleeting.

There are some plastic scratches that show up on the coin.

I bought it since it was an unusually nice coin for the grade - AU58 1872's and 1877's are typically AU53-55 coins. Now thinking of starting a AU58 OGH IHC collection. image

Not at all - it's a tough one to grade from a pic. I like Snows' guess. image

Heck if Snow calls it an AU64 I guess I'm not all the way out of the ballpark. Don't take me behind the shed just yet! image

My 1872 is a decent AU-55, but it doesn't hold a candle to your looker -- really, really nice. I agree with Rick's sentiment of AU-64!
