I'd like to see this one in hand.

Not too fond of it, honestly. A bit dark, and luster is flat.

ya, it looks as though it has a bunch of crud on the surfaces. it is probably why they didn't do the normal over-exposed images

there is obviously some nice color on it though

at least someone around here with under 500 posts can link an url. image

Love the colors on the reverse. almost gives the eagle a 3-D kinda look.

    OT . . . Is this strike typical for a '40-S? . . . Boy is that thing flat ! ! !

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

Too overtoned. Not attractive at all to me. $588?? Way overpriced.

Looks like it was colored with chalk. I don't like it one bit.

Even white that thang would be uglee, since it looks like it was struck with pot metal dies.

Unlike people, Mama Nature isn't very picky about how she does her thing. Too bad she didn't pick the nicest coin to tone under the best of conditions. Then again, there are some butt ugly man toned coins out there.

I'm not so sure. If that color is dull and dead under a light the way it is in the photo, that could just be "fancy corrosion."

Anyone else notice what looks like a staple scratch under the toning?

Or just crappy pix, but you'd think that if it was a killer that HA would have found a way to make the pics show it.

Too dark and flat for me. Colors are not dramatic either.

1940 S Walkers are very weak strikes as a group, worst of all the 1940's coins. The toning is a bit darker thanI prefer.

I'm not a fan of the lusterless shot the photographer used. I would much rather see the color with the luster.

That Walker is SICK (in a good way!!) lol Color and strike make it EXTRAORDINARY!!! It's GOTTA be a 66!

Here's mine in a PCGS OGH!! No color but the strike is way above ave. and although it's white---it is lustrous.

From the pic provided the toning appears to have etched deeply into the coin's surface.

Is this the type of corrosion that Weimar White (chemist) has alluded to in previous articles regarding toning?

I read this thread when it was first posted but never commented on it. My wife was the buyer and after reading all the negatives about it we sent it to CAC where it received a bean. At this moment it is in Todd's hands being photographed. I will post the pictures when I get them back. My wife likes it and that is all that counts. After 48 years of marriage I have learned to agree with her on most matters.

I'll be really interested to see Todd's photos. Good photos make all the difference.
