What happened to the price on these.. some guy on E-bay is giving them away for issue price + grading fees. ..He is probably losing money.. If the mint sells this enhanced eagle the same way they sold the 75 s.. count me out.. >>
They are selling around $180-190 a set not much over issue price of $150.
As Casman said these were a flop from the get go along with adding the Coin and Currency set afterward.
The mint will sell these the same way and probably have another set later with this "new" coin in it.
This one with a "new" twist still has a better prospect than the 2012 sets.
Per CoinWorld today it stated that it will have the 3 finishes simair to the 2011/2012 September 11th National Proof Medal's and the 2012 P Hawaii Volcanoes 5 OZ America The Beautiful
Also this set is supposed to consist of the new enhanced and one reverse proof. ONLY available in the sets And the new enhanced version will be the norm from now on replacing the burnished version.

New version..like the RP was a new version....The Mint did not use the word "replace"
It is an additional version of the "bullion coin counterpart".....
Anyone hear anything about a price point on this set? This looks like to be the one worth going after this year.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
here is something fun from a news story on it: The production of this coin is truly a labor-of-love from all aspects of the U.S. Mint's employees who work on it. From hand finishing the dies, to hand feeding the coins into the press, to visually inspecting each and every coin that is struck, every Mint employee takes pride in what they do to produce our coins. I was impressed with the dedication and knowledge that the employees so eagerly shared with me.

So what's wrong with buying it because you just want to add it to your collection? Not every purchase from the Mint has to be a flip-for-profit transaction.
That said, I hope they don't go overboard when pricing this thing. Knowing them they'll put it out for $150 a set.

Maybe, but then again, it may be a "label" and "grading" game. Many might be put off by the 75th SF set lackluster performance and not order. Many might order late and see no perceived "rush" - maybe the USM will have production and shipping issues.
As you know ANYTHING can happen. My experience is that many of these new issues that have some INTEREST/DEMAND have "legs".

I'd guess they will be ~$200 a set to grade and will hit eBay at $400 for a 70 set...and drop to $275 within a month.
