Yes, they are worth more than melt. They have had a premium over spot since they were issued.

I would have thought the value of the related collectibles would take a hit along with the reputation.

Perhaps it is now infamy that gives it value?

There's hope, yet, that my Jose Canseco auto'ed bat and ball, my A-Rod autpo'ed ball, my Roger Clemens auto'ed Yankees locker nameplate, and my David Wells auto'ed game worn shirt (ok, HE didn't use PED's, though he DID use, and went to the hospital BECAUSE of, Ephedra on '96..... and he did throw his perfect game half loaded from the night before.....a shining example of a pro athlete, a sweaty one at that, can still smell the sweat on the shirt, I swear...lol ), hopefully they'll will be worth more than melt (anyone know what melt is on plastic or polyester or wood or leather?). At least I have COA's and most were gifts! lol
    I'll come up with something.

I suppose I would call these Artificially Enhanced. May a good bookend to a Jessica Lynch slab.

Silver Eagles on ebay ? That provides a greater piece of the puzzle's answer than the name, or the label. image

    NotSure,

Sounds like you're on to a promising new collecting theme to me! I suggest to our hosts that they start a brand new Chemically Enhanced Registry Set.

I suspect that items autographed by Lance Armstrong will be popular, now and in the future. I certainly don't condone cheating in sports or other aspect of life, but he did accomplish amazing feats in his 7 wins. He also is a hero among cancer patients, despite the cheating he did to win. Just his battling back from a malignant tumor gives hope and drive to many patients with cancer.

It seems that virtually all the top riders also cheat; he was among peers. That doesn't make it right. The world of cycling is in need of being cleaned up, but how? It really is sad that winning has become so important that these guys are doing the risky things they do. Sigh!

It continues to amaze me.... do these people ever say to themselves "I won/set a record/achieved greatness due to drugs, not my ability." That alone should prevent drug use in sports - oh sorry, how silly of me, it is all about the money. So, on top of cheating, it is thievery. Cheers, RickO

If everyone is cheating, it's not cheating.

Lance won those tours, fair and square as anybody could have.

Now, as for how he handled allegations, that you should have a problem with.

I'd think all sports from high school on up need to be cleaned up.

Too bad you don't have the game worn Babe Ruth hat that Wells put on that sweaty pumpkin of his and pitched with. I'll never forgive him for that!

For those that collect these, I saw a PROOF ASE "Amercian Heroes" PCGS slab. I think it was the Jessica Lynch

Are these harder to find than the Uncirculated?

the one linked on eBay looks like it has milk spots.

Most all dealers and collectors of autographs would consider this "modern junk" or "dreck" or whatever you stuff you just don't want. Most all of said folks don't deal with any living artists/athletes/actors anyway.

Steroids and PED'S has infected all sports IMO, it gives you the edge. A triple A ball player needs that little bit to get over the hump, that little bit to be noticed by a scout to make it into MLB. It makes the ball fly further, it keeps the stands full, it helps one recover faster from surgery, it sells $8 dollar beers and $6 dollar hotdogs, it's about making money on many layers. I'm not condoning what Armstrong did but how many professional athletes are at home saying, "Gee I'm glad that's not me"? Bud Selig had no idea players were juicing. Do you buy that?

image Yes ... flexible ethics. The salvation of those who get caught. Since not all athletes response to performance enhancing drugs the same, perhaps Lance won the tours because he responded "better" than the other cheaters. Maybe if the playing field was really even (i.e. no drugs, in case that was not very clear), then Lance would have won zero tours. Then again, we will never know since he cheated. It's irrelevant if anyone else cheated.

Try this for fun ... commit adultery and tell your spouse that "everyone else is doing it" so it's not adultery. Then duck.

To keep it coin related, maybe there could be an American Eagle set autographed by all the cheaters.
