Does PhotoBucket work anymore?

Ever since they changed their lay-out it doesn't work for me. I open my page and it tries to download photos but freezes up my computer from anything else and it constantly scrools up and down thru my photos downloading them but you can't stop the scroll or click on a photo for the download link. It never seems to end,,,,, at least I get frustrated and quit before it does.
Any other photo hosting sites out there you would recommend?

<< <i>I don't like the most recent format but it worked fine for me here yesterday....the only thing that doesn't seem to work is clicking on a img link....it used to say "copied" but it now takes multiple clicks to say that....I did find out yesterday that it DOES copy the link even though it doesn't announce it... >>
I noticed that with Chrome, but not with FF. Seems like it's browser sensitive. Never tried it with IE. It was fine until they turned it into a royal PITA!
I reluctantly moved to the beta version...soon to be the only version if you believe Photobucket. And I'm gradually coming around. Some things are definitely improved. Some are just different. It takes a couple of clicks to copy image code, e.g. Used to be easier.
I like being able to navigate to different folders more easily. Uploading is simpler. Sorting too.
Anyway, it works fine with my macs and Chrome and Safari.

The recent rash of website upgrades that I've seen have made me begin to avoid a large number of websites that I used to frequent. I'm not sure what the web developers are trying to do, but it's not working for me.
I'll try Chrome,,,,, what is this Beta Version?
Thanks, GrandAm
I would not recommend the beta (in general)

I just used PB with IE 9.0 with no issues. Perhaps it is because they are switching and have already moved parts of it to the new PB that is causing your IE to freeze up.
You have do more clicks to do the same functions. Sometimes the functions work right away; sometimes you have to wait a while; and sometimes they don't work at all.
They have a new way of uploading photos to random files, even when you follow the instructions to place the pictures in a specific file. I uploaded two pictures this morning and have no idea where they went.
The trouble is we will all be forced to use this failure in a few days.

I suffered through that too, Bill. It became clear that before you drag your image over to be uploaded you have to select the destination location. That's where the file goes. Click on "Library" and scroll down to the folder you want. Select it and then do the dragging. See image below.
Also, you can set up your sorting preferences in advance. I like everything sorted alphabetically. Easier to find stuff. To set your sorting preference click on your user name (upper right), select "User Settings". Then choose "Albums" (upper left).
It's not a bad rework of the site. Just different and you have to learn the new ways of doing things. Then it goes smoothly, IMO.

I got fed up with Photobucket a few months ago. I switched to Image shack. It works very well for me and it's free. They are here: Imageshack
I don't like that you can't change the filename without clicking on the image, and afterward you're sent back to the top of the page of images, not where you left off.
The two clicks needed to copy an image is one more than I'd like but it really isn't that big a deal for me.

Thanks for the help,,,,, GrandAm
I just uploaded 972 mbs from a mini vacation last week and it's working fine on my PC and my iPad.

I'm with you Lance....It SUCKS!!!
<< <i>They've been making a lot of changes. The beta version works for me on Firefox but I don't like the image scroll function as it doesn't do it page by page. Supposedly they have a new "plus" version to replace the "pro" accounts but it's not clear if that's already implemented or "coming soon". anyway, here's a link to the beta home page. Don't try to put an http or https before it because it won't work...

Instead, since I have sooooo many photo's, I decided to figure out how to work with the new "format".
Much to my surprise, it's actually better than the old version. A bit slower but at least I have the ability to scroll through my individual liberaries instead of "page" through the libraries.
I think the key here is in having your individual klibraries well organized which I'd done many, many years ago as the fewer items in the base library, then the easier it is to work with. You see, the new photobucket wants to create a "scrollable" list for whatever library you are in and the more items it has to retrieve, the longer it takes.
I have absolutly no advice for Gary other than to possibly address organizing his library since he's gonna have to do that anyway by moving to a new server.

I use IE 9 with no problems at all.

The scrambler being automatically used without me asking for it makes no sense. I wonder if this will affect all of my pictures that I have entered into my previous coin forum posts. Sounds like the pictures will all have a different name, so none of my earlier pictures will show, unless I click off the scrambler. I have no use for this scrambler business.
The scrambled names totally mixes up my albums. How in the world am I supposed to find a certain coin holder picture, obverse, and reverse when I have hundreds of pictures in an album? Do I need to give a title to every one of my pictures? What a lot of work!
If Photobucket does indeed force us to change our old ways, I will no longer use Photobucket.
Certain other features, like slideshows and the ability to sort albums by filename, are apparently still not up and running yet, but they should be once the transition is done.

I turned off the scrambling feature. Until Photobucket manages to allow sorting by File Name, I have hundreds of pictures in each album, and they are all mixed around. Until this sorting by file name is started, I do not plan on using Photobucket, so I will not be showing any of my coins for as long as it takes.

<< <i>The new version stinks. >>
But then, I use Firefox so maybe I'll have to d/l Chrome? One thing about the new version that I really dislike is that (apparently) they no longer list the page numbers of your photos in any single album, so I have to wait a LONG time for it to download all of my photos in my "Coins" album to get to a coin photo on the last page of that album! Uffda!

<< <i>I use tinypic.com
Only problem I found with that site is trying to find anything about a month later as they give them their own file names and it has nothing to do with what is on the image.
<< <i>Photobucket will not let me copy and paste into this forum. Guess it is just another maintenance problem. >>
No issues here. This with FireFox.
<< <i>I guess I will stand on an island by myself. I love the new format and found the old one very difficult to use. I have a MAC and use Chrome and have absolutely no issues. >>
Agree...it took a while to get used to the new format and some of the options that where available under the older format are still not available but are scheduled to be in place with the next up date.
