These two started the year in NGC AU58 plastic. Neither of them CAC'd. Judging from a thread of a few weeks ago, this sort of thing is supposed to be rare.

I don't think it's rare. If you put any stock in CAC...and if you think PCGS is generally more conservative with their grading than NGC, then it makes perfect sense.

Not rare at all. In fact, that has generally been my experience. Furthermore, I recently purchased a Dahlonega quarter eagle in NGC 53 CAC, it downcrossed to PCGS 50 and now again has a green sticker. In other words, it is solid for the grade at 53 and even more solid for the grade at 50. image

BTW, I was looking for those coins. Now I know where they are. image

RYK, you've confused me. In this thread, you state:

Above the 45 grade, I have had minimal success crossing gold coins from NGC to PCGS. In choice AU, I am zero for infinity. Sticker or no sticker.

At any rate, I sure hope you're not collecting SF type III's... I only need one more. image

I think he means crossing at the same grade. Down crossing NGC to PCGS in AU generally is very easy to do.

Prediction: The day crossing an NGC coin to PCGS means a lock upgrade, there will be posts here critical of NGC's grading.

Now it has upgrade potential, just send it back in. Get the CAC sticker first so no one feels left out.image

Well, this is a PCGS forum, after all. I would imagine differing opinions might be posted elsewhere. image

I think they'd look even better in NNC holders.

Not as rare as some would have you believe.

If a coin has value in its NGC Slab, specify to cross at grade otherwise, its gonna get downgraded.
If the grade looks good to you in the NGC Slab, crack it out and submit it. There's a better possibility of an upgrade.
