Looking at these two coins, which do you believe to be of better quality and why??

What do you think of these two Proof Jefferson nickels, how do you think they compare with each other?? Thanks in advance.

The photography isn't equivalent, so it's a bit hard to say for sure. It's also hard to know what's on the coin and what's on the slab.

From this I'd say the one on the right is better. It's better struck and the fields look slightly less busy. I would reserve the right to change my opinion with different photos or if I could see them in-hand.

Judging by the images provided I would say that the one on the right is fully struck with more detail.
But has something on the reverse.....not sure if it's on the coin or a image artifact.

The toning looks better on the right one. As well as a look of cameo qualities.

This is only based on the images.

btw, forgot to add the one on the left looks like the reverse of 1938.
Maybe that's why is not as well struck.

Based on your picture vs old heritage's picture, I would rather have yours.

Based on your picture vs the newer heritage picture I would take the 68.

If I saw them both in person who knows which one I would like

The reverse of the coin on the right appears to have a strike-through between the words FIVE and CENTS.....I don't like it, so I would take the coin on the left.

I guess I shouldn't look at the images on my iPad as only one looks like it.

The one on the right appears to have better detail and also better luster, as the one on the left appears somewhat spotty or hazy to me.

The piece on the left has that hazy toning, which I don't like. Therefore I prefer the one on the right. I know that the one on the left is probably original and all, but I have never cared for that look.

I agree the photos make it difficult to compare, but I prefer the left one although the right one appears to have a better strike.

I like the "look" of the one on the left but believe the difference in picture quality is probably an undue influence. The cheek seems a little cleaner too which is the prime focal point.

The one on the right is beautifully struck in my opinion. The one on the left has a much "rougher" looking surface. Just an opinion, I'm far from expert.

I'd go for the one on the left. The windows on Monticello look better detailed to me--is that the photo?--and the photo on the right makes it look like Jefferson has old slide-marks on his cheek. Maybe that's on the plastic though.

Very interested in all the replies saying the one on the right is better struck, when the windows look just the opposite to me--please help my continuing education and post the details that are influencing you all that way.

This thread reminds me of marching in the Army - left, right, left, right, left, right.

That said, I like both, but prefer the one on the right primarily because the fields look much cleaner to my eye.

Appear to me to be the same coin in both photo's
Just different lighting and set up.
