Does PCGS now automatically photograph submissions for its database, like NGC?

I had a submission, did not order TrueView, but see the coin is photographed anyway, although not with the same love and attention. Is this always done, like NGC does? If not always, why might it have been done on this occasion? Not sure if it matters, but it was submitted under the error service level.
I brake for ear bars.

<< <i>I did not know that NGC photographed everything sent in for grading. Big surprise to me! >>
If you've used their smartphone app for cert verification, about 95% of the time an obv/rev slab photo is available as well.
They're not close-ups, and their certainly not sufficient for examining a coin. NGC takes these images for consumers to identify if a slab has been tampered-with.

.
Here is an example of a Secure Plus image:
It is not as high resolution or quality as a TrueView or other more handcrafted photo but still quite good, IMO.

They have been doing it for several years and when a coin is submitted for regrade or reholder the slab is matched with the existing picture if there is one.
If PCGS started doing the same it would be a great addition.

<< <i>All Secure Plus tier coins get an image, though not necessarily a high quality one. It seems that coins get a TrueView caliber image if the image is needed for the CoinFacts database.

This one was actually shot by me or one of the other photographers, so it exists at a much higher resolution. The Secure image looks like this
We photograph a lot of stuff in between the photographers and the Secure machines, but we don't photograph everything (yet).

Thanks for clarifying.

<< <i>i don't think they do unless it's secure plus or a coin they want for coinfacts...or a coin they have not had submitted before. however, it could be possible because i bought a coin a year ago that just the last week or so started showing a photo when it didn't previously.

I was doing some file maintenance at the end of the year and discovered a trove of unassembled images from early 2012, that coin must have been part of the up-until-recently-lost coins.
Depending on how busy we are a coin we photograph might not necessarily show up when the coin ships from PCGS. The Secure images will, TrueView images will, but not necessarily the other ones we take for CoinFacts or our database.
