Do You Think About Coins When Working Out?

CoinosaurusCoinosaurus Posts: 9,644 ✭✭✭✭✭
I go for a three hour run about once a week. You'd think that would be a lot of time to contemplate the next purchase or research project, but mostly I think about when the *&^%#! is this $&#*$% workout gonna be $%&#*# over.

I wonder if I'll find any when running outside image. Does not happen too often, though. Last find was a common Roosie.

I don't think most work out or exercise at all looking at most of the people at the shows. Some don't shower or take care of their hygiene even!!!

I use my runs as a time to think about which coins to sell. Unfortunately I rarely follow through.

Mostly, I think about tackling quarterbacks. It helps that there is a menacing Fathead James Harrison plastered to the wall in my workout room. Unfortunately, at 5' 7" 130 lbs., I have not had the opportunity to tackle many QBs in my day. image

My work out is Kayak Fishing or Kayak Lobster Hooping.

This is such an exciting workout that I am only thinking about the task at hand, never thinking about coins.

The great thing about my workout is it is something I crave to do. Sometimes 8 hours at a time.

Been doing this for over a year and have lost over 20 pounds.

If you do not work out, you need to find some that you will want to do, maybe something like metal detecting for hours on end.

Last year, my wife was on a run and found a ziploc bag of change, maybe $4-5 worth. Our best guess is that it fell out of someone's car, backpack, etc, as she found it in the street.

I ran about 20 feet last year while crossing a busy road, cant say I was thinking about coins at the time. I'm so out of touch with staying in shape I refer to a Gym as James image

AB.....that looks like your own workout room at home (noticing your trophies on the shelves)! Is it? Hell, if I had THAT kind of workout room at home, as well as the weight room at the school, I would have gone D-1! Damn, that's a nice one!
    I'll come up with something.

Thanks NotSure! Actually it`s me and my wife`s gym that we own... Not at home and open to the public... It`s a cozy personal training gym though and I do keep a few of my trophy's there to show off ... image

  • I am a black belt in Karate and Aikido I use to do weights a LOT for MANY MANY years but injuries have made me calm down and I just do simple things now...like walking, biking, swimming stuff like that. But yes coins and collectibles are always on my mind since I would say 1985. I won a LOT of competitions in karate that was my true love in life I would say maybe even more than collecting....did I just say that...YES I dared to say it out loud!!! I guess my heart was bigger and stronger than my body could ever take....I for sure pushed it to it breaking point and beyond. During my karate years I must have done way over 1000 fights with other karate guys at my dojo I was really really good...I had it in me like Jordan at basketball I could have made it big if not for the serious injuries doing free weights. I would say I was in the top 5% worldwide or the top 10% not sure.

I would think the percentage of coin collectors that work out is minimal. I think about coins when i am not thinking about guns. I do not work out nor do i plan to.

It looks cozy....I saw the doorways, walls, ceilings, looks like a renovated basement, renovated for a workout area, not your typical 'gym'. I like that it has that 'homey' look/feel to it......it's very nice, and I hope (though I'm sure you do) you have a good customer base....I know the ownership is cool, and must be very accomodating! I like it!

Oh, AB, that second pic doesn't look like you are thinking coins, but rather, whether to put another 45 lb'er on each side of the bar!!!!!! lol MAN, you are ripped!

As for me, I am so busy with my LAST semester (FINALLY), the closest I come to thinking about coins is to check the vending machines at school. When working out with the kids (asst def coordinator for a H.S. f-ball team here). Whether running laps or working out, coins is the last thing on my mind...the kids think I'm a 'nerd' for collecting coins, but when I blow the whistle, those that I hear the word 'nerd' from, they are TIRED aftewrwards! They've used 'coin geek', also, but they run penalty laps too! Needless to say, the comments have been waning rapidly. We'll see how that changes after graduation, then the extended unemployment period before I land a real job (hopefully not too long), then we'll see when/where I think about coins.

I know Jeremy/Airplanenut went to MIT (though he blew through that in 3 1/2 years...me, MIT probably wouldn't even accept an application to sweep the floors from me...lol...so, congrats on that feat, Jeremy, again!)... and I have half the brain he does, so I can only imagine what went through his mind in his real last semester. I'm sure his mind wasn't on coins like it always had been and is again.

No. Generally, there are enough other distractions who are working out in my Gym to keep my mind off of coins...

I get through my first rep of 20 push ups and realize how outta shape I am since I got into coins.
And thankfully I have a few friends who "push" me to get away from them.

This summer I decided to take hot sunny days and float on a raft in the pool. During those hours of enjoying UV radiation my mind often wandered to coins.

Have been both working out & collecting coins for over forty years each. The two activities are mutually exclusive for me.

I was gonna say EXACTLY the same thing. image

I do two miles every day and I think about coins while de-stressing.

I think clearer while running and coins are always at the forefront.

I am usually contemplating my next purchase.

Uhhhh, no. Thinking about getting my next breath and also when I'm going to be finished. I do 5 days a week cardio and weights and can't say as I always like it and think about anything - I have trouble following ESPN when going at it hard - still keeps the BP and cholesterol at bay (not ebay!).

Sometimes I do think about coins when I'm trying to go to sleep - like counting sheep!
