That means they were body bagged.

I know I'm digging up an old topic, yet I still have a problem believing the Texas Quarters in the Coin and Currency sets don't have a special finish, if not satin finish dies then what are the possibilities that they used specially prepared Planchets that were intended for the Satin Finish Quarters??

I agree about the satin finish. Some day someone from the Mint will step up to the plate and admit the satin finish. I'm holding on to one set.

this clearly is a case of experimental use of satin finish surfaces prior to the 2005 release of satin finish mint sets

there is no explanation of a "set aside" of 4,000? Texas qtrs dated 2004 for this set released in 2006. Doesnt make sense, it never will.

the foia request for 2008-w rev 2007 will basically tell you what has been told already - 3 shifts of work, dies utilized on those dates, mintage over those shifts, estimated mintage 47,000.

if you want to contribute to tht and hear the same story already told, so be it. not getting my $$ for that one.

Sold one of my sets today. Looks like there were no definite answers by the mint if they were Satin Finish. Still have 5 more sets. One day maybe some light will be shed on this set.

    found one
    issued @ $129.95

it's a thin to none market on ebay.

I'm guessing they go for a premium still.

Prices ranging from $209 to an auction high of $292 last month. So some premiums left on them still.
